Introduction:

There were couple things I wanted to combine in this character: first of all, it has been far too long since I made this without really using it. Secondly, these would've been too much of a waste without taking them to use.

Lastly, I wanted to try out a build I've never done before. So, Lemmy was born.

Excuse me for that. I'm way too lazy to edit anything out just now. But the build. It's just a Paladin with full Vengeance, Conviction, and as much synergies as possible. I went with couple more points in lightning one, just to have a little more max res on that one. And maybe also more dmg to the element that might be the one with least immunities.

I went all vita after the necessary strength for the gear. It was more than enough, this char was suprisingly sturdy without block etc. I was expecting it to be almost glass gannon-like, but with that merc and hit points numbers, it was far from glass cannon. It was no fast, but always enough time to hit a healing potion or two while things got heated with that much life.

How it was done:

I wanted to do something different in normal. I equipped full Milabreaga's as soon as possible. Until act 4 I went with one point Zeal and Might. After that I started slowly to gear towards the final build. I ran Pindle until 40 and something. Nightmare was done with normal Ribcracker. And then upgraded one when I hit level 56. I rushed through NM with players 1. I wanted to experience the full build asap...

Then the reality hit me: I'd need high levels for the two unique pieces I wanted to wear.. So, instead of playing it all the way as Vengeance Paladin, I made a quick re-spec. Levels 76-85 were played as a Hammerdin. I ran Pits while that.

The last part of the act 1 and the whole act 2 and 3 were played as /players 8. Act 4 was on players 3, act 5 was on players 5. I could've stayed on higher settings, but I thought that there would be some harder situations. But it was not so; act 4 was too easy, as wast the last act. I believe that the only problems I would've have been maybe in Chaos Sanctuary and with the Baal minions..

All in all, a pretty strong char. And a character that really uses his mercenary. I liked that. I think that merc's freeze aura and Decrepify helped a lot. Without that kind of a crowd control, this would have been a lot harder play through.

Lemmy has always had a nice crowd of fan girls.


I used a 'Gloom' Dusk Shroud in NM. That Dim Vision ctc is great!


Mana Burn and PI. Yikes. These needed some merc hits before I could take them down.


When you have no block, but you still want to take Hell monsters on /P8, Holy Freeze really comes handy!


Not bad! But/P3 and act 4 was too easy. Kind of regretting that I lowered the settings that much.


This guy didn't want to get killed. What a mighty eagle! it's probably still hanging on there.


Do you really expect me to kill you?! I visited all the extra areas in act 5. Also made a short trip to the Ancient Tunnels and the act 3 temples.


There's a lot of different kind of shrines in this game. This is one of my favorites


Throne room heated. That's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live forever!


Maybe the biggest threat on my journey: the last wave. These buddies were extra fast and Lister had Fanaticism. Nice. A little separation was in order. After Lister was down, they were a piece of cake.

A: Yes. But maybe a real build would be in order. Pyro did one, check it out, it's cool!

Q: How come Lemmy with a big stick is not cool?!
A: It is, by the way. I'm not expecting you to have a 300ed Ethereal 'Zod' Ribby though

Q: Anything you would do differently?
A: Maybe more str instead all that vita. Dunno. It was still nice to have some leeway with the tough monsters.

EDIT 2: (after about a week): Lemmy is re-spec'd now and I'm running Travi with him at the moment. Works really great. Eth 1.07 CB Death is a beast. Went also Titan-ish with the stat points.

Sup Grape that is some impressive stuff. If this was HC I'd ask to borrow that Ribby. I remember NightFish saying if he had a perfect eth Ribby he'd upp and Zod it too. And those charms of vita/shimmering are beautiful to behold. Is the Arkaines v.107? If so why you not got a cheesy 1.09 CtA with +14 BC? Nah just jokes.

The vid was interesting. P8 Eldritch with Flaming Archers, no blocking and the life bulb hardly budged. Is that due to the huge life pool or the DR from gear and Bers? I guess a combination of both right?

Vengeance and Conviction are a killing combo. Any plans for a runner of some kind? Maybe Trav council where you wont need MF? Was there any other method of controlling crowds? I see HF merc and some use of Gloom. But then you Patd so its all btw now. Nice job bro.

This is definitely cool but I can't help being struck by the feeling that a character named after Lemmy should use an axe. ;p

Still, super sweet character; nice way to put all those items to good use and I do enjoy seeing Ribcracker get some love. And it's always nice when you make a cool pet character when the waves, or at least Lister, cooperate by spawning with something threatening since it makes the success all the sweeter. Congrats! Now excuse me while I wonder about how widespread using "axe" as a nickname for a guitar is...

Yeah, big life pool and great DR helped. Also merc and his Holy Freeze + Decrepify helped a lot too. As you can see in the video, I took a few steps back so that the merc goes first to take the heat of the battle. After seeing there shouldn't be any problems I rushed along with him. That was what I used during the playing also, as long as crowd control goes, that's all I could do. And yeah, Gloom was nice before that 1.07 Arkaine's.

No idea if I will use this particular char for any area running. Why not a few Travi runs before I take some of the gear away. Might even re-spec it to try out something completely different.

Thanks maareek! I have to agree, facing some really threatening monsters, and then defeating them makes it feel more like an achievement. It's no easy to get much excited after playing this game all these years, but I have to confess that my pulse might have beaten just a bit faster when being chased byt that Lister gang. Even if it's SC, you don't want to get killed at the last minute

 

As much as I'd like to see a Charger, zealot would be more logical

Some kind of a Charger might be done someday. But yeah, if I have enough time I'd like to try out teleing Zealot in Travi as a secondary RFO char, and it could be Lemmy. At first I need a map for the main runner though...

 

Thanks for the mention, and you are right, it totally is cool. I did one before the min damage one that was a 2-Hander as well. I went with a tomb reaver for end game weapon, but that is only because I don't have a cool eth zod 300ed ribcracker laying around. Overall I was pretty happy with the build (enough to do it again), as I'm sure you were. There is just something satisfying about swinging once to kill most enemies.

Oh I see how it is, you'll comment on Grape's thread but not mine. Completely offended now.

 

I only look at the forum a couple times a week at most and saw zod god... how could I not?

 

@Pyrotechnician yeah it was surprisingly fun for a single hit attack. Thought that doing this once would be enough for ever, but I could definitely do it again. Let's see if I ever come up with enough great min dmg jools or something else makes me want to do it again.

@pharphis aren't you even slightly worried that I'm most likely going to walk away from RFO with plenty of Chams. I'm planning to use the next Cham (or Zod for that matter) for my next Zod God item. Comeback when you're dethroned?
