I open this thread so that we can discuss about potential Travincal tourney (rune find olympics) and to see are people even interested in such thing.
I'll start with providing my idea of such tournament.
Area we will run: Travincal
Players settings and build we run with is completely up to player to decide.
Items that will bring score: Mal+ runes, based on rarity of the rune (or Pul+ runes)
Total score will be determined on top 5 runes.
Pretty similar scoring system as on MFO.
First question is, should be include both 1.07 Travincal and 1.13 Travincal since 1.07 Travi seems to be quite popular these days? Idea is to have only one category, so 1.07 Travincal players will be at major disadvantage due to fact how hard it is to farm runes there, but also their runes will be valued based on how much rare runes are in 1.07 compared to 1.13. If Ber is 10 times rarer in 1.07, then 1.07 Ber will bring 10x more points than 1.13 one. Question is can this be done? I guess we can have two separated categories for each Travincal, but it does not make much sense since runes in 1.07 are so rare that players who run it might not find a single scorer till the end of RFO. That brings us to a question is 1.07 Travincal even legit RFO category since getting rune there is very hard.
Prizes. I thought of no prizes for RFO, however if some of you think some kind of prizes will be good, bring your ideas.
Next question is how many days would RFO last? My first idea was 7 days, but considering how "rare" runes actually are and how much player must run the Travincal to even get 5 Mal+ runes, I don't think 7 days is a good idea. Choices I think about is either 10 days like MFO, or 14 days so that players can actually get some runes even with casual running. Some think 14 days is too long, but let me know what do you think how long RFO should last.
To help you decide on what would be ideal length of RFO, let me provide you basic info about how rare runes actually are:
Barb - players 3 56% hork: Mal+ rune every 176 runs. So, to have 5 runes for top 5, you have to do 880 runs at average. For player with 45 sec runs, it means he has to run for 11 hours to have 5 runes for his top 5.
Non-barb - players 3: Mal+ rune every 285 runs. Such player must do 1425 runs at average to find 5 Mal+ runes. Again, with 45 sec running times it means he must run for 17.8 hours.
Non-barb - players 7: Mal+ rune every 256 runs, which leads to 16 hours of running for 45 sec per run.
For that reason both options of 10 days and 14 days are open for discussion. Another option is to include Pul+ runes into scoring, not Mal+ so that it will be easier to farm more runes for everyone.
Here are drop probabilities for runes on p1 from Travincal minion: Based on
this calculator.
Pul 1:13897
Um 1:20845
Mal 1:20433
Ist 1:30649
Gul 1:28979
Vex 1:43469
Ohm 1:41263
Lo 1:61895
Sur 1:55795
Ber 1:83693
Jah 1:74943
Cham 1:112414
Possible scoring (let's say Mal is worth 5 points):
Pul 3.4
Um 5.1
Mal 5.0
Ist 7.5
Gul 7.1
Vex 10.6
Ohm 10.1
Lo 15.1
Sur 13.7
Ber 20.5
Jah 18.3
Cham 27.5
With Mal+ only remove Pul and Um. Also scoring can be easily adjusted. I picked 5 points for Mal to have better point distribution with rarity of a rune and that less of it is lost due to rounding numbers.
Gieb your opinions and ideas.
