traps + dtalon

Now lvl 76 or so, I've maxed all my LS synergies and got 1 point in BoS. I was thinking of maxing dtalon as well, for physical damage.

I see a couple of problems with this, of which a few are overcome by this claw. That gives me all the 1 point wonders, except CoS which I can do without. The main problem is the strength requirement of myrmidon greaves. This is the new ladder, so no enigma.

My setup is going to be along the lines of:
treachery (for prebuff)
nat arm (3 sox) with +str jewels - +~30 str
claw shown above with either bartuc, a decent trap claw or spirit - +20 str w/ bartuc
nosferatu - 15 str - or verdungo's
+3 trap, +25 dex amu
1 rare ring with good res, 1 ravenfrost
shadow dancers
gloves - no idea, maybe crafted blood or chancies

my stats are 210 vita, ~100 str, ~100 dex (in retrospect, about 70 dex would be better)

Any ideas? Whether it's worth the effort, any other places I can get strength, where I can get strength while sacrificing the least, etc.
Thanks in advance

Just my 2 Cents, but why bother with Dtalon? Why not buy some +3Trap claws or use 2x Bartucs? Get 2 +3Trap Claws and increase your trap damage? Did you max FB to help with your DS? IMO, it's to late for you to invest in some kicker skills, you won't do any sort of damage in Hell.

in my experience to be an effective hybrid, you have to be a kick first than a trapper. You'll have to switch your gear around to have more melee capacities. With CB and LL. Also your AR would be **** also. No CoS means certain death. Who are Lightning Immune? Gloams, Archers, and alot of Rangers. Without CoS I would be dead by now(HC).
If you want to go Kick for the damage. A good might merce with a good pole would fair much better.

IMHO, that setup has serious problems. If you can get it, Enigma will solve almost all of them.

  • Nat's Armor - dump it. With no +traps, it isn't worth your time. Treachery would be better to have on 100% of the time. You may have to manually override the Fade with BoS from time to time, but you shouldn't be getting hit anyway.
  • Shadow Dancers - Talon works mostly because of Crushing Blow. Use Up'd Gores. Not only will they help you more, they require less strength.
  • Weapon/shield - This can be done two ways, either try to get both kicking and trapping mods on one weapon slot, or use a weapon switch - one for trapping, one for kicking. The second provides more power (and some trouble if you have a CTA). Dual Spirit would work for both kicking and trapping, but you'd be better off with Dual Bartucs, then Stormshield/Weapon. The Weapon can be a lot of things, with a "Black" Flail being one of the cheapest and most effective.
  • The Claw isn't enough. You should really have MB and CoS as hard points so you aren't dependent on the claw (it is nice, though, and I'd keep it if you stayed pure trapper).

The more I think about it, the more I think you should use those points to get level 1 Blade Fury, then get one point in every Shadow skill, then finally add all extra points into Fire Blast. The only real adjustment here is getting Fire Blast to a decent level before the Shadow skills. This gives you two elements rather than just one. Blade Fury works on most of the same principles as Dragon Talon, but you don't need to worry about speed, blocking, or any of the other major melee concerns.
