Trapper vs Grief smiter

I'm just wondering how this duel works. Every time I try it with my budget kick trapper it seems to work like this:
I lay down traps
He charges
I spam MB on him
I die

or this:
I lay down traps
He charges
I run
He charges past my traps dodging completely and smacks me in the back
I die

I honestly can't see it working any differently with better equipment, the "guide" in the stickies seems to imply camping in a corner and praying for the best.

instead of spamming mb, once they have the stun swirly on them, try really small teles, the length of about half an inch on your screen. charge and smite will have a very hard time hitting.

Dont stop moving, your not a hybrid so no acces to ww meaning that as soon as you lose your lock AND stop moving your dead.

How's this :

I lay down traps
I spam MB on him
I tele/ move around
I spam MB on him
I tele/ move around
I spam MB on him
...

If you let he charges/smites/zeals you... u're dead.

its tricky without being able to block that charge with any consistency. a max-block/ss build helps here.

the general idea is to get swirlys going on him as soon as possible and then: never stop moving! you need to setup your traps around bogs & stuff to screw with their cheesy-synch charges. keep moving. run dodge, tele on occasion. keep those swirlies going & traps up. run-run-run little trapper.

btw: yes this duel can suck.

If he absorbs to kingdom come not much you can do. If he doesn't you should have almost no problem. Walk back + mb or tele + mb. Fireblast him if he absorbs you, its your best bet, or slap on a chaos and WW away. Who needs claw mastery or venom? It'll save your butt as you WW back into town.

I say, stick to your trapper roots, you want to kill him as he's charging at you? Trap directly behind youself, and run toward them, as long as you're running in the line of your traps' lightning he's going to get hit, now if you've got 5 stacked traps, that's 1-1xK dmg he's going to feel five fold, should be enough to teach him a lesson real quick, and if you can time it right, mb the heck outta him at any point, he will have felt alot of dmg initially and if they get a 2nd round of hits, your set. That's my advice, has helped me a touch, if you're not running just tele, same idea, but jerkier movements.

I don't think Charge is blockable.

Charge is blockable. Most Charge/Smite paladins literally hold down a namelock on you until you make contact, like dave said you should take advantage of this. Don't move long distances because you'll have to worry about desync every time you do. Get him with MB in a trap field and then move around in it. Trapper vs. smiter is a lot like bowazon vs. smiter, except you teleport instead of running, the idea being to tease him along and do damage all the while. Block really, really helps, even if it's claw block.

No, you will die every time. Actually, the only time you should ever not be teleing around is if you know you have them mb locked.

Tienje has given the best advice imo, if you teleport very short distances you can somewhat outmaneuver charge.

Wow, Im on a bit of a assassin forum spam fest..

wich traps are u using?

make sure u use burst of speed instead of fade and just run around

if u have 1 point in wake of fire, use 2 WOF and 3 light sentrys + mb is deadly on a smiter

Abuse the terrain and stand behind a pond. They won't be able to walk across and since they have a namelock, they'll charge into the "wall". Then they'll either continue to Charge into the wall, making little progress towards you, or stop and walk around it. Either way, it'll buy a bit of time to get a stun lock and lay traps.

I'd just like to thank everyone for their advice, notably TienJe's as it has remarkably improved my win rate against the lamest build ever. Of course, going from a welfare kick/trapper to a full out trapper helped a lot (twice as much hp, 3x the damage, enigma).
