Trang Set Blues

Is there any way to lose, what IMHO, is a completely lame Vampire appearance when you sport a complete Trang Set?

I much prefer the look of a bone helm for my Necs, but since bone helms don't generate with +2 skill mods on them, and the Trang helm doesn't give any decent mods, even as a partial, I'm stuck with a tiara or going the full set with Trang's.

Only I can't stand that stupid vampire appearance.

I've heard rumors that if you personalise a set item that grants an aura etc, you no longer get the aura. I tried this with a Trang piece, and it didn't work.

Is there another way?

I thought trang helm is rather nice giving some serious mana.. other class are looking for them too for the mana boost. anyway I can't stand he vampire look too, but it seems that if you change act and walk out of a wp then you will tempory look like normal nec with old full trang on.

Aura I don't think trang give aura does it?

There is a trick that I figured out with my Aldur's set.

As some of the items give you + to STR, use this to your advantage. I have to equip my Aldur's set in a specific order (Mace and Helm first) or I won't have enough STR to equip the Boot and Armor (the Mace gives 15 to STR per additional item in the set).

Then, when I die, and come back, I have no aura. All of the set is equipped, I have the bonuses, but the aura doesn't come on until I take an item off and then reequip it. This may be your answer. :)

Try making a Necro with only enough Str to wear the gear in the set that you need to wear the higest STR item in the set (including STR bonuses from the set).

the thing I like about trang set is that you can play fire with it, I like trang set for the function no doubt, but I do think the vampire look is a bit lame, at least bizz could thought of transforming nec in that skeleton king from Diablo 1.. what's his face... leoric innit.

you know a taller skelly among the smaller skellies.

or may be bizz should have made a set call "Bone Armour the proper bo", then turn nec to skelly king.

The set itself rocks for skellimancers. Great mana, great res, and + skills. However, I agree the vampire is SO cheesy looking. Man they could have made is so much cooler. In addition, the faster cast rate bug sucks! I like the idea of the skeleton king. That would look cool. Or even a Lich King.

Call me a noob, but everyone is complaining about the cast-rate penalty... well, I'm a Skelemancer so I don't care about that...I find the barrel-kicking penalty to be a lot more annoying... which is almost never mentioned anywhere, even though it affects everyone wearing TOs.

Especially when a few barrels/baskets are around; I can be happy if I manage to kick them all before my skellies are done with the monsters.

Thanks for the responses guys...maybe we can petition Blizz to make the Vamp look optional.

Sky...I'll have to see about the Str thing, as my nec may already have the neccesary str. If the helm gave +skills, I'd be inclined to use it as part of a partial trang setup...you get the look without the vamp aura thingy. But the helm doesn't stack compared to a rare +2 diadem with 20+ resists etc.

Jek...a 1.09 helm doesn't do the trick, as it still counts as completing the set...but you then lose out on the newer bonus mods that 1.10 Trang set gives. it's a lose/lose situation...

I'm sure what you mean. Are you just about the slower kicking speed?
