trading gear to other toons?

quick question. i've been trolling and i keep seeing little tid bits of people talking about trading gear between toons, but i'm not sure if they are reffering to ladder or single. i've been playing single only, but i was wondering if there was a way to trade gear to one of my other toons?

In single player, I believe there is an accepted third party program called ATMA which, if I'm not mistaken, will let you transfer items you have to other single-player characters. Check out the single player forums for more information.

In multiplayer closed battle.net third party programs will get your cd-key banned from logging in if/when you get caught. Most people transfer items in private games, but there's a risk when doing so. The game needs to stay active by the time you log back in with another character, otherwise you'll lose your stuff. One way to do this is to get a trust-worthy friend to stay in the game while you switch characters, or stay in the game for ~6 minutes to have it stay active for a little while, even if no one is in there.

Yes, ATMA is a wonderful, drag-and-drop program that allows you to save items in stashes, and move them between characters. You can e-mail stashes to others to trade as well.

ATMA only works with PCs, so if you have a Mac you'll want to use GoMule, a similar application.
