    Re: Tradeing in SP

Hello. Welcome to the Single Player Trading Forum!

First off, make sure that you check out the trade rules sticky, found here. Everything that you will need to know in order to begin trading will probably be found in there. If the rules confuse you in any way, it would be best to PM a moderator, asking for her assistance.

Also, please make sure that you create a trader profile here. It seems that you have been a member of diabloii.net for at least a week now, meaning that you can begin trading as soon as your profile is up. The trade rules sticky has very specific information about how to create a trade thread. Make sure to check it out.

Finally, it's recommended that you create a thread in the Single Player Forum in order to introduce yourself. It's not a requirement (I don't have one... *whistle*), but it allows other members of our community (a few of whom are traders) to get to know a little better. That forum can be found here.

    Have a good one!

P.S. For future reference, you should give all the stickies a read prior to posting.

EDIT: To answer your question specifically, trading is generally conducted through the forum, though trades will occasionally be done via PM or an instant messaging program. It is recommended that one conduct all trades within threads on the forum itself for the purposes of documentation. Any trades occurring via PM/IM should be reported in a separate thread and must be conducted in accordance with the trading rules. Email is the most common way in which an item transfer will occur. People create a character or stash using their local muling program, place the items to be traded away in said character or stash, and email it away to the appropriate person.

EDIT 2: Hm. It got moved. Thanks, Thy.

Welcome bballguy to thy fall, lol. As NagisaFurukawa said, do the intro, you'll get your shins kicked and nuts washed and whatnot, lol. Hope you'll enjoy your stay, lol. ^^

Read them all and you'll be just in time for D3, lol.

If D3 comes out before I find my Tyrael's, I am going to be upset.

I'm pretty sure it's in the stickies somewhere, but...

Option One: Manually mule the items that are to be traded onto a fresh character via TCP/IP by using two computers, OR the altered DLL. Then email that fresh character to the person you are trading with, and then deleting it once receiving confirmation that they have the file.

Option Two: Use ATMA, make a new stash for the trade, and place the items inside it, and email the stash file to the trader. Again, remember to delete the stash file once receiving confirmation that your trade partner got the items intact.

Option Three: MP with your trade partner in-game via TCP-IP. No file handling required.

    Re: Tradeing in SP

Option Two is pretty much the one that people around here use. I think of it as a three-phase-swap, but here's the total steps:

Phase 1: Get ready to send your stuff
    1. make a new D2 file (trademule.d2s or tradewithGeorge.d2x, or whatever). This can be done within ATMA.
    2. move the item(s) you're trading away into that file
    3. close the file

Phase2: Send your stuff and avoid dupes
4a. send the file to the other person via email.
4b. when the other person confirms reception, delete the file you sent (or move it to a backup folder that you never, ever, ever remove items from - I do this so I can track the items I've sent to people)

    Phase3: Get your new stuff
    5. download/save the file the other person sent you.
    6. make sure the file opens within ATMA
    7. notifiy the other person that you got the items they sent and the mule works (so they can delete it and avoid dupes)
    8. use ATMA to transfer the new item to the desired character/stash.
    9. Play D2 with your new item.

Addendum to poops' manual: Leave feedback for the other trader using via the iTrader system.

Another reason to trade via the forums: You have "insurance" of sorts. The mods aren't responsible for any bad trades which occur off of the forums.

Oh, and in regards with the SP Trading Forum, I think it's best summarized as:

"One does not simply walk into Mordor"
