I dunno about fun things to do in TO, but the drinking age is 19, the smoking age is 19. I'm not even sure if there is a purchasing of knives law anymore, but I think it's 18 and the maximum length of a knife is 6 inches. Keep in mind that we have strict concealed weapon laws up here. Don't be carrying that around on the streets.

If he's going to Toronto then I suggest he carries at least a 9" blade that is conceled. Just don't try to get on a plane or train with it though. He may want to pack some heat too...

Yonge street isn't that bad. It only seems bad because of what everyone says, but there are definitely whackos on it (like on every other street at night... ok, maybe a few more), but everytime I've been on it which was always after 12am, it's been pretty supervised by the police. The HMV basement is one of my fav places to hang out :)

Um.. good luck with your knive-buying endeavours.. what, did you expect the drinking and smoking age here to be 16?

I think the legal drinking age is whatever age you can see over the bar at.

Hm, I havent been to Toronto for 4 years... ish, but there were 3 kickass places there. I'm not sure if any are still around. (1) The Playdium. A 4 story arcade.. Near the waterfront. (2) The silver snail, a card store. MTG heaven almost. They've a wicked comic collection too. (3) science center thingy. I thought'd be a bore, but theres a lot of interactive stuff, really fun. I can't give you directions, but its around the top of the map, 2-3 inches to the right. (city map of T).

The science centre is at Don Mills & Eglington. Just take the Eglington Ave exit from the DVP (Don Valley Parkway) and head west one block. Can't miss it, south west corner.

Anyway, for cool stuff to do it really depends on your interests. The World's biggest bookstore is right downtown around the corner from the main HMV store (were the bassment is), the waterfront has some nice areas, etc. Toronto is really an adult city so if you're not 19 I'm not sure what to recommend.

If you have the cash having dinner in the restaurant on top of the tower is still a pretty cool thing to do. The food is actually good now too. You looking at about $80 a person as a price range with no booze though, so it hurts the wallet a bit.

Anyway, Yonge street around Dundas has enough to do to keep you busy for days. Music stores abound, the book store mentioned earlier, the Eaton Centre, endless sports shops, elctronics shops, Ryerson University. Tons of stuff. If you into funky stuff check out Queen street around Bathurst.

I have gone to TO every year for quite some time and I never felt afraid anywhere at night.

What are your interests? There are scads of every type of store.

Oh...don't forget to stop by the condom shack!! Its quite funny.

You haven't been to some of the really bad areas, then. I won't even go there and I can be armed if I want to.

Anypoopoo..for future reference..where are those areas? I just tend to walk aimlessly and I don't wanna get stuck in an unsavory place.
