Tomb Reaver... soo cool, particually good though?

Well... I just found a tomb reaver. Very very very very very cool :)

Actually, to be frank, I haven't used it yet, but I'm very very curious about one of its properties, namely the "revies" thinggo. Incidentally, the stats are as follows:

    Tomb Reaver
    Cryptic Axe
    Ladder Only
    276-349.6 Avg Dmg 2H
    99-125.4 - 453-573.8
    65 Durability
    165 Str Required
    103 Dex Required
    Item Level: 86
Clvl Req: 84 +60% Increased Attack Speed
    +4 to Light Radius
    +(200-280)% Enhanced Damage
    +(150-230)% Damage to Undead
(50-80)% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
    All Resistances +(30-50)
+(250-350) to Attack Rating against Undead
10% Reanimate as: (Param - MonIndex)
    +(10-14) Life After Each Kill
    Socketed ((1-3))

The "reanimate" property. I'm guessing that's basicially "10% chance of monster having the necro spell revive on it when killed"?

What is the maximum number of these "revives" that can exist at one time.

What character build would be best to take advantage of this really really really nifty weapon.

So, basicially, can somebody explain the "10% reanimiate" property to me, and can somebody roughly tell me a class I could use it for?

    Thanks... :D

I wrote up a guide based for a WW barb based on using that weapon. Find it someways down in this post. It gives a nice base to how you should set up skills, stats and such.

The 10% chance to reanimate is more or less a 10% chance to cast revive a skeleton from an a killed enemy. The revives don't last long - maybe a minute, but when you are always killing, you should always have a couple of these reanimated skellies at your side. They don't do much damage, but can steal the enemies focus from being on you all the time.

I've noticed (using a mod) that Reanimated monsters stay in the area and don't show up as your summons. It's not like they can kill though, they're like 1.09 skellies.

A werewolf Druid can reach a 4-frame Fury attack and do incredible damage with that weapon. Actually, a Tombreaver is the best rated weapon for a Werewolf.

    Nifty factoid:

The "% chance to reanimate monster as: ____" attribute is specific. Any and all monsters revived by this polearm will be reanimated as a Returned (which is a skeleton). I think (I don't know for sure) that the monsters stats are based on the difficulty you are in.

But what's really cool is that there are many possible monsters for this attribute (none you will ever see without a mod/editor, though). Ever reanimate a fallen as Andariel? as Deckard Cain? :D :D

the reaver will always reanimate the corpse as a returned skele the skeles seem to be invincible b/c i have a conc barb that uses tomb reaver (ww barb wont work since ww barb cant use % chance to cast, ie if u using laying of hands the ww will never cast the holy bolt) and the skeles are TANKS ive seem a skele tank about 5 death lords for about 45 secs so it was nice. they dont do any dmg but are good tanks. Most ive had out at one time is 3.

btw the revive will ALWAYS revive a returned skele no matter what u kill

My level 91 HF merc uses a tomb reaver.. Its got a 40% damage jewel and 2 amn's in it.. the sockets really help with the life steal.

The revives are AWSOME for providing targets for ranged attackers, allows me to kill in the worldstone without having to worry about getting hit by the lightning.
