To what extent can curses stack?

    Just a quick question:

I often find it useful to curse monsters with more than one curse. For example:

Decrepify, then dim vision, then amp damage. Do all three curses remain active, or will decrepify erase as soon as I cast dim vision?

Also, if the curses can stack: Is there a limited number?

    Info is greatly appreciated.

    1 Curse, that is all.

There are odd things like the barb curse (Battle Cry), zon "Curses", Stun animation, and said other things, but I do not know if these would stack. I think Zon + Necro do, but other then that I cannot provide info.

Attract can not be overridden, but that is not the same as stacking. The only stacking I know of is that the AI affects of DV and Terror remain active if you use another curse. The AI altering effects last only until the monsters make an AI decision. So your curses can stack for about half a second.

Thx for the starting info. This is quoted from the skeli guide:

Attract: "This curse can not be overridden by other curses. (Meaning if you cast amp damage on top of it, the attract curse stays active.) What makes this curse so useful is that a) Monsters stop attacking your troops and b) you can cast amp damage on all the other monsters that are currently attacking the victim of this curse. "

I am assuming the info is correct, can anyone confirm this?

The info is correct, but it is still not exactly the same as stacking. You can first cast Attract and then another curse.

Curses overriding each other is one reason why playing with another necro can be annoying. If he knows what he's doing then, cool. But if he's overriding your dim vision curses against gloams in hardcore, then yeah, that's sorta frustrating. Also, against baal when he overrides your decrep with amp and gets baal teleporting everywhere.

Yeah...I see what you mean. That happens to me especially in public games.

We should write a FAQ on "Curse Etiquette". Although the chances that such a FAQ will be read by somebody other than the vets on this board will be very slim indeed. So not much will change.
