to keep or not to keep

the first item i'm wondering about r the runes.
is it worth the space to keep low lvl runes since some of them are needed in runewords.
where should i stop transmuting runes?

I think it depends who you ask. I generally stop around thul, amn. But always keep some extras around just in case. You could stop sooner than that and collect Ral's and such and after about 40 of them go and trade them away to crafters.

You should keep Ort's and Ral's if you use stuff like fortitude armor or beast weapons. Repairing them costs a ton of gold.

1 Ort Rune + Weapon = Fully Repaired Weapon

1 Ral Rune + Armor = Fully Repaired Armor

My friend had a beast that he used in pvm, and it always ran out of durability. He got sick of carrying ort's, so he traded it.

Repairing beast sucks big time! Tried the weapon on a frenzy barb!
Costs were very very high when repairing beast!

I keep all runes, even the Els. Always keep one of each and cube up the rest to rals and use for crafting caster amulets (or trade to crafters). Save all Orts as is (for rep. or for crafting hitpower gloves). I cube so that I have roughly the same amounts of Thul/Amn/Sol/Shael lying around, all handy runes. Making stashes of spirit rune sets (Tal, Thul, Ort, Amn) is also a good idea if on ladder.

I have a frenzy mace barb that uses a beast caddy, and it is expensive to repair it, but I put a 151% gold find Gheeds on him & he gets more than enough gold to repair. Just thought I'd toss that in!
