to get or not to get..

i was considering getting my ex boyfriends mother a mothers day present.. do you think this gesture would be frowned apon by her family? i don't want it to turn out bad or anything.. but i thought it would be nice to do.. because she did let me live at her house for a really long time.. so it would be sorta a thank you/mothers day thing

this is one of the things i was considering..

or maybe this , i'm not sure yet

    -_-

I think that'd be a nice gesture, and will show that you appreciate what she did for you.

Ya, I don't think it would be to out of line to do so. She let you live in their house.

I agree, that is a very nice gesture and I can't imagine that the family would think it's crossing the line.

That would be sweet. I like the yellow roses in the silver urn better.

yeah, i think the yellow compliments the silver nicely

*sigh* it's $30.. cheapest plant on the site.. but i dunno what else to do, i don't know any other flower websites.. i know this place has good quality.. so i guess i should just suck it up and deal with it

Zep..you could prolly find a nice container and some roses cheaper than that. I am lucky, we have a vendors license at work, so I get everything wholesale.

Get the silver one with the yellow roses then. I think that container is more classy. Thats just my opinion though, you may feel different. When looking at an arrangement, the container is what brings it all together, and I think that silver one does it best.

Send it to her along with a nice hand written letter, just explain why you are doing it and say thank you. If she let you live in her house and you were close I see no reason why you couldn't.

Look at it this way, you are sending her a gift, to show appreciation for the way she treated you. The rest of her family has no say in that.

If you were best friends with a girl, then dated her brother, would you not talk to her anymore when you broke up cause it bugged him? I hope you'd say no, so just send the gift!

I think you are really the only one who can answer this question.

Chosing Mother's Day to offer her a present definitely carries a meaning as opposed to offering her something for, say, her birthday - something like "I liked it when you were my mother in law and may still consider myself partly so". Which doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Things to consider are : did he dump you or did you dump him (I don't believe the "mutual" thing to exist so I won't mention it  ) ? is his mother secretly or officially disappointed that you are not with him anymore, or is she glad it is over ? do you think there is a chance that you might reunite with your boyfriend in the feature ? Depending on the answer to these questions, your present will be perceived differently.

But the most important thing is that you want to do it. So go for it. Whatever the minor consequences, your regret of NOT doing it would far outweigh them.

And, last advice - you don't need to EXPLAIN or APOLOGISE to her (unlike someone suggested) for offering the flowers.

Natalie...sometimes I wonder how you make decisions. When presented with a choice, do you pick the stupidest possible thing to do and then run with it? This woman was not nice to you, her son was not nice to you, you need to stop having contact with this family. Let it end.

    ...........

    *sigh*

just because she was pretty rude to me doesn't mean that i should return the favor, she gave me a place to live, and for your info, just because i talk to him once in awhile doesn't mean i'm trying to hang onto him, even i get tired of being called names and put down all the time

I'll say you don't have to do it, but it'll be very nice if you do it. It's hard to find people that are truely greatful these days. I'm glad you're among these people.

    If you do send flowers:

    1st flower arrangement > 2nd
