Time for the Intro I guess

Greetings to my fellow SPFer's. It's an honor and a pleasure to be amongst such a welcoming community. I've owned the game for a while now, but recently discovered the joys of single player. I've enjoyed 'twinking' my characters as you say with all generous donations from giveaways. I hope to list a number of items myself at some point. My most elite character is a 68th level Hydraorb sorc named Orgasmina (I really need to change that name in Atma soon) who is currently working through Hell Act 1. I'm having a bit or a problem with the CI creatures. Cast and run only works for so long:) And my level 54 Lightning Merc keeps dying. I made a poor choice for Merc previously, and I'm trying to level the new one up. Any recommendations for leveling areas/techniques would be appreciated.

So Cya around!

From what i've been reading in the forums, lvl 68 is a tad low for Hell. You may consider going back to Act 5 NM to gain a few levels before resuming your journey in Hell. As for leveling, i think the strategy compendium has a good guide for where to get the most experience at specific levels; look it up with your merc's level and he should be leveling like a madman. Use /players 8 for best results. Welcome, and happy hunting :)

You definately want to be around lvl 73-75 before entering hell... at least, that is what i want.
Besides that: welcome to the spf :howdy:

Welcome to the SPF! You've basically gotten the regular spiel, but listen to it, as it is good advice. As for having trouble in hell, run nightmare baal and cronies for a while on /players8. That should get you up to 75 or so, and help with the new merc (depending on its level). Cheers!

Welcome!

As for your CI problem, that's always going to be an issue given that Hydras are totally brain-dead where it comes to AI--they'll quite happily blast away at Fire Immune monsters while the Cold Immunes swarm you. I've Matriarched a Blizzard/Hydra sorc, so Hydra most definitely works--it just doesn't work a tenth as well as Meteor!

Welcome. And ditto to the previous advice. Your sorc's a little young for Hell and the merc is just puppy chow. Definitely hit Baal and Pindle to level up and maybe find some sweets.

Have fun, play safe, have a drink and be nice to the Elite Uniques. :drink:

Welcome to the SPF! Hope you enjoy your time here.

Besure to drop in at the EMB for a cold one and look out for the squid, who was just recently roasted at the EMB! But he may regenerate.

Welcome to the forum! :) Merc levelling isn't too tricky since they require so little experience to gain levels... try running him around Act 3 & 4 NM for a bit and he should catch up in no time.

Oh yeah, totally forgot this the first time around: your merc will level up a lot faster if you let him get the kills (i vaguely recall something like a factor of 3?). As always, happy hunting.

Thank you all for your advice. I cleared a couple NM cow levels (don't know what the general view or this is) and my merc gained a few levels. I'm 70th now and he's 60th. Didn't really find anything there except some useful small charms anyway. Besides, I don't have much for MF gear at the moment. Went down to Catacombs after clearing the cows sans king and found a Meatscraper and a Stormstrike. Much better stuff!

NEways, i don't think I can change my sorc's name now that I have two monogrammed items on her. I'll just have to be a little more conscious of what I'm doing in the future. :)

Cheers :drink:
