This is why I play HC

I've only been playing for a few short weeks, but I got into HC as soon as I heard about it. I've only lost one character so far and it was due to lack of attention.

Anyhow, I've been testing a berzerker barbarian build for the past few days. He's not very high up there, but I'm taking it kind of slow with him so I can learn the nuances of the class.

Last night, I went to murder the countess and got swarmed. I ran out of potions and my health was quickly diminishing. I dropped a portal as fast as I could click and jumped back to town. My health was so low that the health bubble was almost completely clear, you couldn't see but a sliver of life. I ran to re-fill my potions then hopped back through the portal and killed the countess.

That was a serious rush. It's those kinds of moments that make HC exciting. Had this been SC, I would've likely died, picked up my corpse, and attempted a second time. Instead, I had to find an escape route and fight her a second time after healing up.

It's a small victory, but I just thought I'd share.

The best part is hearing the hostile alarm and deciding you are not leaving! especially if you are not use to doing it.

But really, in SC, in that situation, most people would of probably just let themself die, then make a new game. But in HC, you learn to utilize all your skills like Howl, Leap, Warcry and whatnot. It really makes you a better player.

I know last season, every now and then I would join a pub hell Baal game just to watch idiots die at there sheer complete lack of skill. Like yeah, "This Soul just killed me fully geared, but I can take 'em naked now!"

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a lack of skill, just a level of carelessness they can afford due to a lack of consequences... unless it's an extremely high level character, in which case you can lose quite a bit of experience.

Back in 1.09 Classic HC I built some droolers as I was fortunate to get a few nice weapon drops. This was like 5 months before 1.10 came out, maybe longer and up until then the only PvP I did was PK defense a couple times and then I had 1 PPK build that was low level, a throw Barb. I never really got to excited doing PPK, he was built with easy stuff to get and most times ppl tried to PK it was just to easy to hit a TP and go to town, but when I first started drooling I had to drink a few beers or take a few shots just to calm my nerves it excited me so much!

Then later, when I got better I wouldnt duel unless I was drunk and I never lost a dueler to legit people, I only lost one to a Dher. I didint get many ears, frankly I had sub par stuff which made it tuff to kill someone so fast they couldnt exit, but I told myself I would never flux (is that the term?) in PvP and I never did but I made many others do it.....you flux u loose IMO!

Kind of wish I had gotten into PvP earlier, but I was too busy running around having fun I guess.......

I was never into PK, probably still couldnt bring myself to do it today, its just not my kind of thing.

I second that...gotta love the HC rush the OP experienced though...cleanest intense rush there is adrenaline :laugh:

Level 24 sorc - just cleared the Chaos Sanctuary - feeling good - static'ed Diablo down to 1/4 got hosed and bam - DEEEDS !!!!



Starting over now - I love this game ...
