thinking about making a zealot on ladder..

Just got back into the game after about 2.5-3 years because me and some buddies heard about the ladder reset..

Anyways, earlier doing some chaos runs I came across this rare long sword..

    +1 pally skills
    342% enhanced damage
    40% ias
    65 AR
    and some other minor things..

I imagine this will get two sockets, and as a cryptic sword, it would be probably one of the strongest weapons out there as of right now.. I realize in order to upgrade it, its going to cost some runes, but I have them available, and pallys were always my favorite class, so I would really like to do this if I could get some input from you guys!

In my opinion, if you want to go with melee for your Paladin, Zeal is the type of skill that kills the quickest and requires much less IAS to reach lower FPS break points. In the starting of ladder, you'll likely stick with low-mid end equipment for sometime, so Zeal is actually quite a nice skill to use without demanding much IAS equipments. However, you've to keep in mind what you'll need to do about physical immune starting Hell difficulty. You can search for more vastly info on that here :)

    GL and have fun!

Hmm, since a cryptic sword is already a really fast weapon, should I perhaps use another build?

check the german calc first, i don't have the link in front of me at work or i'd do it for you. but i imagine with zeal + fanat + this sword you've already got max speed, i dunno.

btw rares only get 1 socket from larzuk, iirc

yup, according to the calculator, the 40 ias on the weapon with a lvl 20 fanat would give me a 4fps zeal..

    thanks for the help guys..!

Thanks Painman for the other source of info, but it confuses me even more.
Two calculators written by different authors gives different FPS result with the identicle setup. For example, I chose Act 2 mercenary with Ogre Axe 30 IAS and no fanatacism. One shows 7fps and the other shows 6fps.
I wonder which author's calculation is the right one..

That's weird that they have 2 weapon calcs on the same site? :scratchchin: I dug up the one that I linked to because I was getting a 404 error on the original one last night - I just assumed they had moved stuff around, but the original calc is back now.

I reckon it's wise to keep referring to the original one since it's been pretty dependable.
