They always come back...

This time, I was finally quitting Diablo 2, I told myself 3 years ago. Totally burned out! Nothing left to accomplish!

But, here I am again. By day, I'm a graphic designer. By night, I'm planning out my next offbeat build or next attempt at the ultimate tank. I got the hankering again and I'm ready to dive back into all the minutea that makes this game so timeless.

I have 2 questions that maybe you fine folks can help me with:

1. Has anyone on a Mac been able to get the runeword mod to work using the 1.14b Mac client that Blizz made? I haven't been successful. I already asked this question in the help thread, but I figure this will get a few more eyeballs.

2. Does anyone have a working link for a wereform speed calculator? Every link I've followed has been broken. I made myself a Beast axe in my last go-round and I'm trying to figure out how much IAS I need to add.

Unfortunately I can't answer your questions, but what I can do is... Welcome back, TopHatCat64! The game has a special allure that is hard to resist :)

Well well well, look who it is. Good to see some familiar faces from my golden days! Welcome back THC64! Just recently came back myself, it's amazing to be back!

1. I don't think that is possible at the moment :( I've tried to look at RWM for Mac, but I couldn't find anything for v1.14, apparently Blizzard changed the data system or something (I really didn't try to understand what changed), so there is no solution currently. My work around is to use my very old Windows Laptop that has pretty much just D2 and RWM installed, so I can move my designated RWM_Character with runes/base to roll the items there and then back to Mac. But please, if you manage to figure it out, let me know!

2. Would this http://diablo3.ingame.de/diablo-2/calculatoren/angriffsgeschwindigkeit/ work? I've used it recently and from what I can remember, it looks to be working just fine.

Again, welcome back :)

This is what I really missed! The awesome SPF community. Good to see some familiar avatars. :D

@Neksja: Hey there! 1. Well, I do have a work-issued PC that runs decently enough. I think I'll follow your lead on that.
2. I had been using that calc but I didn't notice until now that it does have an option to set your character to a werebear. Good thinking.

A bit late to the party, and no familiar avatar for you, but welcome back :). I've been having a blast ever since joining the SPF at the beginning of the year. So yeah, awesome community !!!

Welcome back!

I think I've read most of your mat/pat threads. You did some great chars back then! Looking forward what you'll come up with this time.

Thanks folks.

@Grape: I'm just trying to re-absorb the crazy amount of information that this game offers while I cook up potential builds. After D3, it's so refreshing to actually care about 90% of everything that hits the ground. Magic item? Could be potentially offer +6 to a single skill. Normal item? Could be a great runeword base. Rare? Could be end-game worthy.

Diablo 2 is a wonderful game in that sense. Such diversity (itemization, builds etc) for a relatively old game.

Welcome back THC.

Mac RWM is still a no go as far as I can see. Direct -txt mods don't work and the MPQ file format is changed.

Do we know if the rune words would still work though? Say if they were made on a RWM computer and then muled/transferred/traded across to a 1.14b or 1.14d Mac? Could be an option?

I used to be a big vanilla fan but spirit & insight just make the world turn so much faster.

Edit: don't mean to hijack your welcome thread THC :)

No problem, GDE. I wanted to know the answer to this question too!

I'm running on a Mac using Crossover. So I'm actually running the Windows version. It seems to be taking command line switches but I can't yet be sure if RWM is working or not. I'm still looking for an Exceptional shell to roll insight in. I'll post here as soon as I find a shell. I think Crossover runs about $40 with a coupon though.
