I'm having an internal struggle right now about whether or not to add ladder runewords to my untwinked zealot. I just found a 5 os phase blade and have all the runes for grief 
I started the journey with him intending to not use ladder runewords or any programs, but it's soooo tempting to add just ladder rune words with the .txt file
Should I stay strong and keep searching for stormlash/BOTD, or give in and make a grief

Nice progress @T72on1! Not that much longer for Neverland then Really looking forward to see your results from Nihl, I did see that amazing Phoenix you posted on IFT, looking forward to hearing how you utilise it with a druid. But first of all, hope your vacation goes well and you get to enjoy every bit of it!
I'll provide an update on Aura after the MF/RF results are in, I want to include those results and drops (+anything since I finished the tournament), because other than that, it's been just beating Diablo and not much else. Aura is crawling towards the goal line, which is great, but seeing you Nihl runners do that well XP/hour -wise, it really seems like crawling.
Really looking forward to see your results from Nihl, I did see that amazing Phoenix you posted on IFT, looking forward to hearing how you utilise it with a druid. Hey guys i have been lurking these forums for a while now i always enjoyed this thread reading all the progress and excitement about finding the certaint items required for the build people made so i made a char aswell but i just dont really injoy LoD to much the charms/rune is not my vibe so i went back to my old love D2 Classic now i hear you say you must be mental. You might be right anyway here to the progress of my char
Normal i just specced lightning to get throught act 1-3 i actualy got a gull dagger from a mob just before andy and act 2-3 were nothing special diffeculty wise or drop wise besides some fcr rings/amu and shopped act 4 i think for a fcr wand and continued to diablo who dropped absolutly nothing usefull with around 150 mf i hoped on shard/magefist/twitch i finished normal at like lvl 27
i just plowed through nightmare with no usefull drops besides some basic rare's and did some nightmare cs at the end till lvl 65 ish and got myself a 3 socket large shield with Pdiamonds for 56 all resist and continued through hell i put like 1 into firewall for cold immune's and that works fine with static since firewall keeps the regen and in classic static works till 1 hp left then i did a few mephisto/andy runs and got myself a shard/magefist and a few decent rare's
i then started csing at 70 again first few lvls flew by after a while it started to slow down and any death made me loose alot xp so i went back to andy and kept going till i found a twitch for the 25 % block and a tower shield to increase my block from 34 % with a large shield to 69 % with a tower and went back to cs i am now 92,25 i am getting around 100 k a run from doing a 2 seal setup depending on how many extra packs i get and how hard the runs are and how many i have to abort i dont have bo no merc so i have 1.1 k hp vs /p7 a hit without amp, might or fana hits for 200-300 so with 2 of those i get almost 1 shotted
so you learn really quickly how to avoid those i had 1 death at 90-91 and 2 at 91-92 mostly from teleing blindly into the infector and him being conviction + a random fana boss nearby was to much these runs take around 80-90 seconds so atm i get around 3-4 m/h
anyway classic is all about rare items since you only got normal uniq's a few uniq's serve a purpose till you find some really GG rare's i have been trying to get 2x soj for some extra dmg since i just use some fcr/mana rings so far i got 61 uniq rings 27 x nagel 34x manald heal 0x soj and its 1/31 for soj so yeahh.... and i need 2 to wear and 3 to socket my gear later with so......
lvling wise monster lvls are way lower in classic so when i see people getting 3-4 m/h at nihla at 98 and i am getting the same a 92 alto you need less xp and i have alot to improve makes it clear classic 99 is impossible but its all about the journey ill will keep doing p7 2 seal runs till probaly 93 maybe 94 and will probaly switch to orb/fireball and do p1 cs + p7 dia (you get only 3 respeccs on classic) so i cant test to much here are the old numbers from doing normal cs runs with 7 players in the cs and not doing 1/8 or anything like that
90-91: 440

Im really fond of classic myself; too bad the boss lvls rnt any higher. I think u reaching lvl 96 in classic is just abt equivalent to us reaching lvl 99 in expansion. Best of luck to u =)
Oh and how do u plan on dealing with immunes as a orballer in cs? Iirc u had to be tri-elemental to solo clear...

i havent checked the numbers yet how many times they would be fire/cold immune and would either reset those runs or go a few points in lightning spells since i can static them down to a sliver of health havent decided yet and i cant keep going to long in cs p7 since a death after a while is so risky i think if i die now i loose around 1-2 hours of work with body recovery with out its 6-7 hours so i might start csing at either 93 or 94

In the meantime, I'm a rune (Ist, Gul, Mal, Vex, Ohm, or Lo) away from having the runes for both Grief and Death. I also have the bases ready to go (Phase Blade and eth Colossus Sword respectively).
I'm currently level 91.25 or thereabouts. Reckon it's worth cashing in Ancients now in order to farm the token from Baal so that I can respec to swords?
My strong inclination is yes.

Early in Hell (as in just past the Cold Plains waypoint), a Lum rune dropped off a random unique so it immediately went into a Smoke Serpentskin Armor. . Will post pics and updated stats and equipment shortly, as well as details of my Journey into Hell so far, but I wanted to take this opportunity to ask a rather silly question. I just noticed that Raise Skeleton gets bonuses from Summon Resist. What bonuses does Summon Resist provide Raise Skeleton?[/QUOTE]
Act I provided that above-mentioned upgrade to Smoke, as well as my first close encounter with death in Level 4 of the Tower, as the entrance was booby trapped with two boss packs (one goatmen, one fallen), both aura enchanted (one Holy Freeze, the other Might). I got knocked down to about 1/3 of my health before I started madly chugging Full Rejuvs and was able to successfully cast Terror to get some crowd control going. Once Terror separated the herd from the two uniques, things went smoothly and Hell Countess dropped a Ko and a Shael. But sadly, Andariel, Duriel, and Mephisto all dropped rubbish:
Things got so bad that when Ormus gifted me the following and said "this magic ring does ME no good", I replied with "well, that makes two of us, mate!":
Through Acts I-III, my best two drops had to be the following:
I embark into Act IV (interspersed with Pits and AT runs) equipped with:
Lore Bone Helm
Eye of Etlich
Spirit Broad Sword
Smoke Sperpentskin Armor
Rhyme Spiked Shield
Sander's Gloves
Crafted Vampirefang Belt (+4 STR, +20 Mana, +8% CR to go along with auto-mods for Caster)
Rare Heavy Boots (+39% LR, +11% MF)
Two Rare Rings (one with +26% CR, +30% FR, the other with +10% FCR, +29% CR, +27% PR)
Charms with either +Resistances or +Life (no skillers)
Resistances are at 75/71/75/37
Life = 1139
Mana = 342
Merc
Insight Partizan (desperately seeking an Elite Polearm with 4 sockets)

I'd say probably yes too. Saving Ancients to me seems logical only if you can efficiently farm until later levels very effectively, such as high speed Pits/Ancient Tunnels runs or CS/Diablo runs. If you are not able to kill stuff fast, might be best to bite the bullet and just go with it and beat the Ancients and farm Baal for a bit. While that 40mil boost is quite significant at lvl98 for example, nearly 14% of a level, it's still "only" 40 mil, you'd still have ~250mil to go. And in the end, you'd probably spend more time overall grinding for XP at lower levels, when you could just speed through them a lot faster with your better weapons that are more optimised.
I saved Ancients until lvl98 only because the later levels made so little difference overall to my ability to kill things fast. For example Hammerdin, the difference between 92 and 98 is not that big that I'd somehow be so much slower at 92 that I'd really benefit from that 40 mil and reaching 93 faster to kill faster. Since you seem to have a pretty good reason to do the quest (to get to Baal and respec to higher damage), it might make quite a significant difference in your overall kill speed.

Right, as promised, a proper update on Aura's progress!
It has now been 15 days since I picked up D2 and Aura again after about 15 month break. Since then, quite a bit has happened. I've officially added Aura back in the running, I finished 20hr set of p7 Chaos Sanctuary runs for RF/MF Tournament as well as 6.5 hours of Nihl p7 runs for the same tournament. After that, Aura has been religiously telebombing bosses, seal bosses and Diablo for quite a few runs.
RF/MF Tournament! That was good fun, a bunch of decent drops. Before going any further, I'll just ignore what happened with Nihl, since it was essentially just around 12 mil XP and that's about it, very poor drops.
I had one goal in RF Tournament, a Zod. That would finish Aura's rune drop grail. I would have been happy to run 20 hours without any other qualifiers in either category, if I got Zod. Alas, no such luck. However, around 15 hours in, a boss pack in River of Flame gifted me a Cham, which would be 2nd one Aura has found. 2 Chams, no Zod. In addition to Cham, Aura found a Jah in about 2 hours in, so I was in for a good start from the beginning, really kept my hopes for Zod up. Ended up with only Cham and Jah as my high runes, couple of Guls and an Ist don't really make up for missing out on other high runes.
Sets and Uniques category did not go that well, not a single 10+ scoring find. But the game was trying to tell me something by coughing up Gris' Helm AND Shield (and of course at least one armor), I was hoping for the Caddy too to just complete the set in one 20hr set but no. I found 7 TC87s during the tournament, which was not too bad. The good thing about it was that 4 of them were grailers, Gris Corona and Vortex Shield, Ghostflame and Stormspire. Unfortunately no other grailers were found during the tournament, but 4 was still a good result in my books.
For XP, I was doing a bit poorly on the XP/hour, I think roughly around 1.5mil per hour. I managed to get around 30 mil XP during the tournament before heading to Nihl, which increased my total XP gained over 40 mil, which is much more respectable, but obviously had to spend extra time to get there. This lead into some testing post-tournament for me.
Post-Tournament and XP. I essentially had three options to go forward with:
1. Heavy Rune/MF, low XP - /p7 runs, killing all bosses, seal bosses and Diablo at /p7. Advantage of higher chance of getting S/Us, runes, but XP/hour goes down to about 1.6mil
2. Heavy MF, Medium Rune, low XP - /p1 killing all bosses and seal bosses, switch to /p7 for Diablo. Again, higher chance of S/Us, a bit less on the runes, XP assumably higher than full /p7 runs, however this turned out to be roughly the same as /p7 runs, roughly between 1.5-1.7mil per hour
3. Low Rune/MF, Heavy XP - /p1 runs, killing only seal bosses and switching to /p7 for Diablo. Disadvantage of not finding many S/Us and/or runes, but advantage of getting max XP I can from Diablo runs. I've been as high as 2.6-2.7mil per hour, as I spend less time picking up things and muling.
For now, I am definitely going with option 3. Aura needs XP more than finds. Finishing Grail would be amazing, but let's face it, he's not gonna find Tyrael's so I should first and foremost focus on XP. Runes are a bit on the useless side too, nothing I can use them for to make the runs faster or drops better, I'll come to this in a bit too. So, I'm going to focus on max XP I can grind, especially with the MFO looming around (when is this?), I might as well focus on XP now and MFing when the Olympics are on. And on the plus side, I can then save up all my luck Though, I've found few runes, some of which have been posted in IFT, others not:
Sur
Vex
Vex
Ohm
Ohm (18 minutes after the previous Ohm)
On top of that, I found few more grailers, Lenymo, Heaven's Light and what turned out to be Cranium Basher
Right, about runes. Aura has a decent stash of runes as of now, but no use for them. I am thinking of just putting together few runewords for the Runeword grail, but not really sure which ones. Any suggestions? Feel free to suggest new characters to build, though they won't be started until after Aura is done. Here is the list of runes I have right now:
One runeword that just jumps out in my mind is Last Wish. It's essentially a way to waste away 3 Jahs, a Ber and a Sur (Mal is not that rare anyway), but it's a runeword you don't see that often around SPF. If only I had a decent base for Exile, I'd probably do Grief+Exile and give Telesmiter a go once Aura is 99. Anyhow, any suggestions for runewords?
Since RF/MF tourney, I've racked another 40+ mil in XP from Diablo runs. So the 2 weeks I've been active again with Aura, I've gained almost 90 million in XP! That number is quite unsustainable due to work and RL, so it is highly unlikely that I'll finish in the next 2 weeks with my <65mil left, it's much more likely that it'll stretch out to finish right after MFO, which should then land in first week of September. That sounds like a solid plan, a month of running to finish off. Also, gives me a month to figure out how to do screen capture on Mac so I can record some runs and most importantly, the final ding.

Cool update @Neksja, gogo for the last stretch! As for runewords, I'm in the same spot, essentially tackling the runeword grail at this point means just starting to waste high runes.
However, one idea would be to ding 99 as an Auradin with dual Dreams, Hand of Justice and Dragon. That should get rid of a couple of those annoying high runes and would certainly be a stylish way to finish an untwinked 99er.
EDIT: I'm also running on Mac, and I just remapped the system's screenshot hotkey to include Alt so that the items show. I just replaced Command with Alt, so the hotkey is now "Alt + Shift + 3" which works perfectly.

Alright- the results thread is up, time for a post tournament update!
I ended up finishing the full set of 20 hours. I spent the first 16 or so hours split fairly evenly between The Pit and Pindle+Eldritch, both on players 1. With my previously posted ridiculous Elton John/The Joker inspired outfit focused predominantly on MF, my kill speed was not good enough for anything higher. The Pit was taking 3:30-4:00 minutes per run on average, and Eldritch+Pindle around 1:10 to 1:30 minutes.
My two 'big' finds in terms of qualifiers were fairly rare, but completely useless...
I did, however, find some pretty useful items for Terrahork- including my third highest scoring qualifier item, and the first dual leech ring I've seen on this guy (and it was a decent one to boot)!
3% LL sadly, but still pleased to see it!

At this point, I had hit level 91!
And my rune based qualifiers were looking a touch embarrassing (I think my fourth and fifth qualifiers were both Io...)
I decided to put my actual gear back on, for an altogether less fabulous but slightly more effective look.
I decided to hit up Travincal in order to improve my rune score, as murdering wee demons is infinitely more interesting than opening chests. My shiny new gear allowed me to run pretty safely on /p3 with an average run time of around 1:30 minutes, which without teleport isn't completely horrible I guess. The ethereal Vampire Gaze I found from Eldritch also helped enormously with Razan's tanking of hydras.
My four or so hours spent in Travincal were reasonably fruitful, and I actually finished 8th for runes only in the L85 category! As well as runes, I picked up a few other goodies, as well as my highest scoring non-qualifier (only runes counted from Travincal).
I also got a plain ethereal Colossus Sword in The Pit, which very fortunately rolled 5 sockets in the cube! As did one of the random white Phase Blades I tried my luck with.
As mentioned in my previous post, I am a single rune drop short of the runes for both Grief and Death (Mal, Ist, Gul, Vex, Ohm, and Lo would all work). Seeing as Tomb Reaver still hasn't dropped, despite finding a multitude of significantly rarer items during the tournament, I am taking it as a sign that the Gods do not wish me to specialize in Polearms!
So the plan is to cash in Ancients and farm up the Baal token (I have the rest already), grind the last rune in Travincal assuming I don't find it en route to the respec, and then switch to swords!

My four or so hours spent in Travincal were reasonably fruitful, and I actually finished 8th for runes only in the L85 category!
As well as runes, I picked up a few other goodies, as well as my highest scoring non-qualifier (only runes counted from Travincal). I also got a plain ethereal Colossus Sword in The Pit, which very fortunately rolled 5 sockets in the cube! As did one of the random white Phase Blades I tried my luck with.
As mentioned in my previous post, I am a single rune drop short of the runes for both Grief and Death (Mal, Ist, Gul, Vex, Ohm, and Lo would all work). Seeing as Tomb Reaver still hasn't dropped, despite finding a multitude of significantly rarer items during the tournament, I am taking it as a sign that the Gods do not wish me to specialize in Polearms!
So the plan is to cash in Ancients and farm up the Baal token (I have the rest already), grind the last rune in Travincal assuming I don't find it en route to the respec, and then switch to swords!

I did not expect to find any more gear upgrades at this point, but I did this morning! That +2 HP is going to help greatly with situations like above

We pick up with Klaus 4k runs deep into LK, no Surs to show for it, and looking for Infinity. I desperately want to have an Inifinity by the time the MFO rolls around so that Klaus can partake in it. Having to watch from the sidelines while the other 99ers-to-be crush it in all these competitions has been very difficult on him, to say the least.
As previously mentioned, I wasn't super keen on my map so I bit the bullet and re-rolled hoping for a better one (and maybe a luck change?). This map is identical time-wise to my last one, but a much smoother route for both travelling and hitting more poppables, so a net increase in efficiency overall (and variety with poppables, which is nice).

I'm taking comfort right now in the fact that I'm building up quite the skiller collection for my HC stash, and just trusting that a regression to the mean is on the way at some point. Or is this my regression to the mean after finding that Jah so early on? Either way, only 4 more Surs to go!

We pick up with Klaus 4k runs deep into LK, no Surs to show for it, and looking for Infinity. I desperately want to have an Inifinity by the time the MFO rolls around so that Klaus can partake in it. Having to watch from the sidelines while the other 99ers-to-be crush it in all these competitions has been very difficult on him, to say the least.
As previously mentioned, I wasn't super keen on my map so I bit the bullet and re-rolled hoping for a better one (and maybe a luck change?). This map is identical time-wise to my last one, but a much smoother route for both travelling and hitting more poppables, so a net increase in efficiency overall (and variety with poppables, which is nice).
So, the runs:

Ouch.
So much for that luck change, eh? Still no Surs after 5k runs, which is getting a little bit tedious to say the least.
