The Teslasin?

The Teslasin?

I got a Crescent Moon runeword last night for my bladefury assassin (side note: these are INSANELY fun to play. Try it sometime) and noticed that a Crescent Moon comes with -30 enemy lightning res and chance to cast Static Field on striking - not to mention 33 percent chance of open wounds. I enjoy making anti-cookie cutter characters, so my mind instantly floated to other builds that could use a Crescent Moon - and since I was using an assassin, I threw this together:

(I currently play - mostly - non ladder, however I have a couple runewords on ladder; dream namely.)
A kicksin who equips a Dream helmet and a Dream shield for the stacked auras and equips a Crescent Moon one handed weapon. I'm not sure on the armor, perhaps a good old Bramble or Duress [sp], and the gloves'll be a trick too.
What would we call it? a Teslasin?
Has this been done before?

Comments and criticism are accepted and expected.

IMHO, you'd be better off with:
Dream helm/shield
6-socket phase (6x lit facets) (not sure whether this or Crescent Moon is better)
4-socket armor (4x lit facets)
Up'd Goreriders
Draculs or CB gloves
Ravenfrost
TGods
resists on ammy/ring2 (Maras + Dwarf comes to mind)

The damage is pretty pathetic on the Dream combo unless you get a decent type of Lit Mastery (facets +% count).

Your inventory would have to carry most of the resistance/fhr problems. Any extra space would go to more lit dmg.

Stormlash might be a good option for bosses.

If you use Fade, then 50 IAS needs to come from somewhere on the -30 weapons.

Thanks for the response!

If you're kicking four times per click, does a ton of extra lightning damage really matter? The medicore damage from stacked dreams must be enough to crank the damage up enough without expensive boosters, right?

Does Holy Shock add to attack rating? If not, we might have to skimp on the maras and D. Stars - I found that all of my kicksins had a tough time hitting anything without the angellic combo.

No AR on Holy Shock, but this is what it does have from dual dreams:
"Lightning Damage: 1-1668 to your attack"

That means an average of 834 lit dmg per attack, which is less than the elemental damage from Gimmershred (902). Also, you are taking away one of the 2nd most offensive and 2nd most defensive item from the equipment. Guillaume's and Stormshield are hard to let go.

Back to Holy Shock, the reason I went with Facets is that this is an all-or-nothing build. I don't think it is worth less than 850 damage to lose SS and Guillaume's Face. With 10 Facets (+50% lit dmg), that will count twice to boosting Holy Shock damage. i.e. 1.5*1.5 = 2.25 times the original damage. Or, in other words, 1876.5 average damage from Holy Shock alone, in addition to a large drop in enemy resists and the added 1-74 lit dmg (37 average) on each facet which is then multiplied by 1.5 from the mastery bonus.

Honestly, I don't think Dream is worth equipping, but then again I have no reasonable way of testing that either. The reason sorcs are so amazing with Dream is their incredibly high damage boost from Lightning Mastery combined with the double bonus to Holy Shock.
