The State of B.net

So after coming back to this game after 2 or 3 years, I have noticed one thing. There are a lot more bots than there used to be. I find this to be very annoying, and it seems like every public game is run by one or we are spammed uncontrollably by adverts. However the concept of "dupes" and vanishing items seem to be non existent. Has patch 1.13 put an end to "duping?" Are all the high runes and Stones of Jordon's all real finds!?

(It is likely that these items are found by bots, but at least they are found and not made out of thin air...)

My concern is whether it safe to trade items that one has found without fear of "poofing" runes and rings? Seems like a lot has changed socially on B.net too; as if all the kids have grown up :p!

I don't think there is any fear of poofing, after the increased rune drop rates everything is pretty much botted

Some yes, most: no

Find a group of people you like to play/trade with and you're all set!

I don't believe there is a current dupe method...everything found is likely found by bots.

I'll bet money that there still is duping, being that it's such an old game and the software is ancient...there are plenty of loopholes still.

One thing is for sure, those advertisements really ruin some of the experience. Pressing "n" every 3 seconds is not very enjoyable.

Hopefully Blizzard has someone active with the ban stick in hand...hehe.

If there was significant duping, HRs like Jah or Ber wouldn't be like 12 Ists (ladder Europe). Duping might still be possible, but maybe it needs too much efforts in comparison to botting after the drop rates have increased and the number of customers for item shops has decreased. Duping might need manual action, i.e. you have to invest time or pay somebody to do it while a bot works automatically and you can run them multiple times in parallel on computers of today. All you have to do is checking the loot.

There's still duping, but you'll find it more with things like jewels etc.

easy fix - Most spam bots are lvl1 - make games with a level restriction?
That could work but a lot of people have level 1 mules that they use exclusively for trading. Damn advertisers. I just keep the player screen up and squelch them while Im waiting for something / someone.

unfortunatly, there are also a lot of lvl90+ spambots getting around.

private games are the only way to avoid them.

as for dupeing, i'm 100% certain it's still happening. mostly rares, perfect runeword rolls and super jools along with HRs and SoJs would be in line for dupeage.
