OT: Snowieken, I did read your reply to me in the other thread, I diden't reply because I diden't want to help keep that thing going, but you had a lot of good points, and some really good stuff to think about. Just saying, I respect the response, and I wasen't ignoreing ... just that thread is wayyyy too long already .. ;)
Yeah, I was wondering myself if I should reply, I didn't like to keep that thing going as well. I just thought to point out some flaws in those arguments. The thread seems to have been removed though, so it was of no use anyway. :)

my friend is such a purist that he will not accept items that I've found and want to give him..

My philosophy is that if it were real... we live in that world, and I found something that would help some other person kill these real scary monsters I would want them to have it. He will only use what he's found.

(His necro could be a trang Oul at this point - but he wont take the missing peices.)

Item finding is fun... but item sharing is better.

In that case I think there is such a thing as too much of a purist.

If that is what he finds fun about the game, the challange of finding the items he wants by himself, great! I think each person plays this game for different personal reasons, some like MF'ing some like duleing, some like questing, To each their own. I for one would love to be able to play a pure game but I always cave in and mule over items.

From an item-receiving noobie's perspective, person who gives me the item is nicer than the ones who do not. And isn't this what counts in the end? The term is defined between the wealthy fella and myself. So who cares what the other people are saying about us.

On the topic of a community channel, I usually hang in

diabloii.net

(a name I made up for my friends and I). Just type that in the channel input screen. I am usually there between trading and gaming with friends (although they rarely come online now).

Well I didn't expect this thread to generate so much speculation, but I'm glad it has. snowieken, are you my long lost twin or something?? :thanks: Thanks for reiterating what I have attempted to say.

Item sharing is the pinnacle of fun in this game. My first BOTD that I have discussed making, was soley for a friend of mine who joined our group. I hunted and hunted and we all worked together, and WHAM I pounded those runes into that ethereal thunder maul to roll a 393ed 15 ll BOTD. I was so happy to give it to him, and I knew he would use it, and in turn use it as well to help out our group. I should add he promptly proceeded to lose it in a popping accident a few days later, but that's besides the point. :buddies:

We don't get bored blowing through hell because it's not the boss we are after, it's the fun we are after, and it's always present. I see you guys are having a very hard time swallowing the idea of approximately 15 zods coming into the possession of the five of us, and that's just a sign I see as you trying to climb a mountain all by yourself. Plow through all five acts in a well greased well teamed machine, and you're probably killing upwards of a million monsters, if not more. (By the way, that was a horrible guess, I'm sure I'm way off). Just play together, and play different areas, the new scenery keeps things fresh.

And as for giving up our real lives, I am going to college and doing pretty well - we are all on USEAST and get on about the same time each evening just out of daily habit (get home, finish homework, get some food, log onto battle.net) and meet up, and do stuff together for around 2-4 hours each night, sometimes missing nights, or playing longer on the weekends.

And of course giving items to people is a great thing to do, but it isn't as great as many people make themselves feel about it. I just added that because I remember a month or so ago, like 5 people were on these "giving" kicks and asking for praise from us, when they were really after an item giveaway contest some older player who was quitting was conducting. Lame, I thought.

Well, next ladder season, I propose we team up in this forum, and see what we can get accomplished. I think it will become a diabloii.net legend - we can even have a cool name and our own channel! Lol, I don't know, it's just a suggestion, but an option I'll keep open, and show you all how quick it is to get what you desire out of diablo without killing Mephisto 1,234,234,566 times.....

:winner:

Nah, I just happen to agree with you totally. Sometimes I agree with people, you see. Yes, even me.

Heh, no worries though, I hope he understands now. :)

This is something I would very much like trying, this group thang. Esp. with someone here on the forums.
I used to have a buddy i new from another game, we and eventually my brother were hanging together, but never actually playing together, it was more of a "you go that way, i go this way" kinda deal. Which became lonely, boring..and resulted in making characters so elite to solo with, which in turn makes trading more frustrating, becasue we NEEDED items...if we woulda teamed, there would be no reason to deal with such morons that flood Bnet we all meet.
So I enjoyed this thread, and wish now i only had a group to began trusting, and playing with...might make this good ole' game, give me that good ole' feeling I had when I 1st got it....something new.
