The pulling of the tooth

For those of you who haven't yet had the pleasure of having their wisdom teeth pulled, enjoy your time. I had both of the bastards pulled on the right side on Friday morning. Hell of a way to start the day. :(

Both were impacted. The dentist had to break the bone to get the top one out. He cut the bottom one into pieces to get it to let go.

To make it worse, 30 minutes after leaving the dentist's office the blood clot broke loose. 4 friggin' hours and a pint of blood later I finally got the bleeding stopped.

My face swelled up so much I couldn't get my mouth opened up. No food for two days. Hurt like hell just to get a drink of water.

No sympathy wanted or needed. I was a dumb SOB for not having them pulled 4 years ago. I'm just trying to make you who get to look forward to this feel all warm and fuzzy knowing it SUCKS!!!

I had mine done at 16 as well.. I was eating macaroni a few hours later.. spilling most of it on my lap on account of the fact I couldn't feel my face.

Good times...good times...

You should be trouted 2,000 times for making me feel bad with your 2,000th post.
Well, to be fair to me, between all the crashes and such, I am really up near 5,000.

And really, I think you will be up and tormenting libs soon enough. :)

Bummer . . . I'm also in the "my dentist said my mouth was big enough to keep 'em all" club, although I'm sure getting them out would have made it easier to keep the ones I have left clean over the years.

Hope you're up and ready for a Henry Weinhard's soon.

I was in that club until I had to get them removed for an upcoming surgery. Three impacted(broke them out with a 'chisel') the last one he put his knee on my chest and pulled(at least he said that, not sure if it is doctor humor)

Anywho he didn't dose me right on the pain killers and I had so much demerol in me I freaked out and tried to kick anyone who came near me for three days. My mom called the doctor at her department(she works at Children's Mercy)and was told to keep dosing me in my sleep. So yeah, I cried in the corner for three days. I had a crappy surgeon though, I couldn't really eat for a week and a half.

Were they in the way of something else? What was this other surgery that required their removal? And have you been drinking Henry Weinhard's ever since?

I don't know what a Henry Weinhard is, so I am going to say no.

I will make a big post on this when the details are settled later this week, but long story short they are cutting my lower jaw off and reattaching it and there is a possibility of them cutting up my upper jaw and playing jigsaw.

I refer to the loss of my wisdom teeth as the best time of my life.

I tell everyone that you only get one shot so make it memorable.

Im serious I loved it.

I need 9000 dollars worth of dental work this summer, and that's just what insurance DOESN'T cover, the insureance pays for another 6000$
Dear god, it's gonna be a long and painful summer....
Including two root canals, braces teeth removed, wisdom teeth removed, and unhinging my bottom jaw.

I was born with no wisdom teeth whatsoever and teeth straight enough never to require braces or other serious dental work. I am truly amazing.

Hah... I have terrible teeth.

Nasty buck on my two front
Several cavities (Okay, that one's my fault - poor oral hygiene as a kid)
Small lower jaw
High pallette

And I THINK my wisdom teeth have come in... I kept having a problem with new teeth cutting my gums for while, and they seem to have situated themselves now. We'll see. With all the issues I've had.. I really don't know. It'd be nice if SOMETHING in there worked, though.

I'm going to have to have ine out at some point as they are making my middle, bottom two teeth overlap a little. I don't think I'll wait too long after reading that!!! Sounds stupid doesn't it? Yay pain! I can't wait!

Had two on my right pulled a year and a half ago. I just loaded up on tylenol 3 and relaxed, that stuff is good :)

In terms of positioning and shape my teeth don't look the greatest but they are damn resistant to cavities! I can brush my teeth once every 3-4 days and not have any cavity problems (apart from the bad breath heh). I've had zero cavities so far.
