The Pits with assassin

i was wondering of a good build with assassin that can run the pits with poor gear. im sick of sorces when i used to play. but if an assassin isnt really worth running pits because of low mf. then i can make a sorc

Pit runners tend to go for low mf. The area is run for socketed items mostly.

Assassins can run it well on low budget gear, but you need to be very careful of archers. They are lightning immune, and with low quality gear some of the unique packs really hurt. Multi-shot, Fanat aura, lightning echanted, etc. packs will put you down before you realize what's going on. Just make sure you saved corpses so you can use Death Sentry when you need to. ;O

Agreed with Sparrow. A Lit-Trapper can handle the pits with poor gear, and it'd be my personal suggestion. The Dark Archers/Hunters will give you some trouble, but your Shadow Master/Merc should be able to handle them, with some help from the CE affect of Death Sentry.

BoS, is another quick way of dealing with those pesky archers.

Infinity is the ideal solution, but certianly not cheap. :)

Actually, I think it would make the most sense to pack on as much MF as you can for The Pit. The monsters there in general don't have a very high chance to drop something special, so you're going to need a decent chunk of MF before things start falling often.
The 80+ MF% I've got on my necro doesn't seem to be cutting it. I got much better results with 2-300%, though it dipped my resists and other nice stuff.

Well, the idea is that since they don't have any enhanced chance to drop high-end gear, that MFing is better done in other areas. If you run the Pits with zero MF, you have a real good chance of the highly sought after socketable items dropping.

If you play at higher player counts, you more get more uniques/champions. I've been told that they have as high chance to drop high-end gear as anywhere else (except maybe bosses). Is that true?

I've made lots of pit runs on /players 5-7 with my flashdancer and had only a few successes... Boss runs seem to be better for high end magic gear.

Also tried with practically zero MF looking for sockets. Only found one elite item with sockets after about 10 runs.

Remember, just plain white elite items (especially if they're superior) can also be traded pretty easily. Especially if the max number of sockets is the most desirable number (Larzuk).

If your poor, the Pits are not the place to run. You really should be hitting meph/andy/trav up. Generally the Pit is run by players already pretty rich, with low mf, high kill speed to find nice socketables and such. As an inexperienced/poor player, they are not the place to do.

I'd say a poor melee sin can run it and here's why :

Using Tiger strike and Dragon tail you will have a AOE attack with huge fire damage. Clawblock will have 50-60% chance to block "all" attacks. Fade goes a long way in covering res. Using Cloak of shadows will allow you to engage the badies one at a time while the rest just stand around.

with good gear they say a ts/dt build can get upwards of 80K firedamage which is ofc Huge!! (more then any sorc is getting)

the only thing you need to make a kicker viable is a good boot type. You cant get cheaper then that. In hell, its fairly easy to shop decent claws.

their is a guide sticky'd for a build like this that covers all the bp's and gear setups.

For conversation its something close to this:

something close to
20 tiger strike
20 dtail
17 in Shadow master with +skills items
1 in fade (treachory gives free level 15 fade ctc and 15 venom)
pop a couple points in dragon talon to speed up leveling and having something to apply quick crushing blow.

Any other variation is really just gravy , Assuming treachory , you've Phy damage, fire damage and venom. This handles most monsters. You would still have plenty of points left to add to either Death sentry , or add a elemental attack to your claws.

Having made a few of them, Kickers PVM are underated. (and you can call me biased :p ) They have one of the fastest single target attacks, one of the highest elemental damages, a summon for a meat shield, Access to all the damage types. Excellent crowd control with MB and COS a win win in my books. (did I mention they are a hoot to play?)

a poor meleesin should run the pits, nothing is physical immune. pits have more chance of champion/boss packs than cows.
