The perfect baalrunner? A mat thread.

Meet my new baalrunner, marge.

She's my take on the most efficient baalrunning sorc.
I tried the pure blizzard sorc and the blizzballer, neither could, efficiently, clear everything on /players 8. The best of the 2 is in my oppinion the pure blizzer with helhel bonehew on switch. The catch is, wave 2 had to be done on /p1, /p3 at most.
I wanted to go /p8 all the way (/p3 baal though), this one can do that.
At 3 min. 45 sec. pr. run, including loading, buying, selling, repairing and muling. As blizzard gets better this, of course will get lower. I might be able to shave of ~20 seconds or so just by getting a better WSK map (it's a 22-25 second tele now) and doing throne on /p1 or even just leave it on /p3 from the previous baalkill.

The blizzard part should come as no surprise, it's quite simply one of, if not the most efficient skill(s) in the game.

I chose to go with CL/L as secondary attack to use against the second wave's skeletons because of two things:

1. Chain lightning does an enormous amount of damage pr. cast - even when not fully synergized. It does so because of the many hits it'll land. 4 or 5 CLs (with 4 or 5 Lightnings to clean up the last one or two skellies) is enough to kill all the skeletons.

2. I had a Griffon's eye and wanted to put that sweet sweet -24% to enemy lightning resist to good use. :)

I don't think I could improve much on the gear, another SoJ or maybe even a BKWB would be nice but that's pretty much it, I think.
Originally I planned to have 3 or 4 sparking GCs, I just didn't have more than one. It turned out to be no problem with just the one. For this reason, the rest of my skillpoints will be spent making blizzard stronger.

I only have 1 problem with this girl - Mana, CL/L just drain my bulb in no time. It's not a huge problem mind you, a few blues is all I need.

Any comments, suggestions, things I forgot (most likely, a LOT)? Hit me.

PS. The average time is taken from K-T's run counter.

I wonder what you did wrong when making the blizzballer.
A decent blizzballer should be able to surpass 3:45 rather easily, especially seeing as you have quite the setup. :scratch:

I made something similar MPing with a friend once, and found it to be less efficient than a Blizzballer because the Blizzard could not be as strong. I also prefer Fire over Lightning, but that is one helluva character you got there.

I made the same character, but never finished her, because I found the lightning part a bit too weak during questing. That Blizzard damage is enough to do efficient p8 Baal runs with, nice to hear that she is an good Baal runner, I might finish mine eventually.

Darn! That was a build I had in mind, and I'd come up showing off my original character, but you beat me to it :embarassed:

That's a very nice char you have right there. The +19 skills is simply :shocked:

However, a blizzballer is stronger, at least on paper. In addition to having double the average dmg of lightning/CL, fireball has this absurd +14% per skill point synergy bonus. It's rediculous that it's not even funny!

I suspect that on paper even that might be more efficient than a Blizzballer. B-Ballers don't usually have much or any -%FR, and he's got that diadem on. Anyone know how much the splash from FB does? I'm guessing it can't compare to the arcing of CL, however you don't necessary have all of the arcs each casting. FBs are cast quicker. Lot's of complicated math to figure out how the damage/frame compare.

Interesting character.

Would an Eschuta's be more efficient than Death's?

I'll try to adress everyone.

Eschuta's will do very little for my lightning damage, assuming I could get a perfect +3 skill +20% light damage. The only difference compared to DF will be the +20% light damage which would be added to the allready (with only 1 hard point) reasonably high light mastery. This in exchange for the +cold from DF is not worth it imo. Blizzard is the primary kill skill after all.

As far as which is better - blizzballer or this one, I don't know, but I can say for sure that I like this one better. I didn't mean to say that blizzballers can't run baal efficiently, they can of course, it's been proven by a lot of people. I just don't like them all that much.

I completely forgot to mention that I've tried a crescent moon crystal sword on switch, I didn't like not having cta so it was stashed rather quickly again.

If you have a lightning sorc planned and don't mind getting free stuff, let me know and I'll send it along (usual giveaway/trade rules apply of course) It's rwm/rrm

The advantage about CL/L as backup is the high damage output to groups (clearing the throne and 2nd wave) as well as the possibility of having a source of high -enemy res (Griffon's) well, high compared to what you get from fire facets on a blizzballer anyway.

I spent almost 45 min. rerolling my wsk map. My cast bc-bo-tele is now down to 13-15 seconds, the average time has been further cut down a little more, now it's 3.28.31 exactly (though I haven't done many runs since obviously). This is everything except baal on /p8 (including clearing throne room).

No. Blizzard is the main spell, the Lightning/Fire is backup only, so it can kill CI's. Also, the 20% from Eschuta's will simply be added to the Lightning Mastery %.

And besides being a huge mooch-off (which sadly, i seem to be), i was wondering whether blizzard/CL/L would be better than CL/L/Orb, with lightning as the emphasis? I have a pure lite sorc, and i'm thinking if i could get just half of that damage, it'd be pretty viable in hell.
