The Perfect Amazon

Hey all, just wanted to introduce myself to this forum family. I’ve been reading here for a while, just to pick up on the economy and whatnot since I’ve been back from d2, and I’ve finally decided to ask my first question: I love zons, and I’ve finally decided to concentrate most of my wealth on one character, and spend a lot less time playing d2. So I want one character to play all the time I play this game. Anyway, I have both a bowzon and a javazon, but I’ve decided to unite them. My question to you is, do you have any advice on creating the most enjoyable and versatile zon to play, bow/jav zon available.

I’ve amassed some wealth, so my gear selection could be pretty expensive. I have coh, fort, wf, faith, titans, shako, griffons, ravens, sojs, bks, etc, and but I need help gear and merc wise. Just asking for some advice, what gear to wear, I could go faith merc or act 2 merc.. endless possibilities

It doesn't sound like you need to run areas for gear. So, if you want to have some fun and buzzsaw you way through the game and then run baal to get up to level 92 or so, play a javazon. Go the lightning route. Use Griffs, Titans and put Thunderstrokes on switch. Wear Razortail and whatever boots you like. At this point boots matter a little, but not so much that you couldn't use something like Aldur's boots for the FWR. Your skills are not that gear dependant. Use CoH and raven/manald. Max LF and Charged strike. Get about 9 in pierce with razor tail Then get valk to 17. Use decoy liberally, but only a couple of points is necessary. Put an Infinity on a Might merc and there you go: a mass killer that cannot be stopped.

Using this build will not require strafe or any other "hybrid" build since Infinity, Griffs and the use of Thunderstrokes makes Lit immunes fall to your knees and beg fop their lives. Max the lit synergies and you'll have a lightning killing machine. It is a fun build for PvM.

Thanks a lot for you advice Dacar, but I actually have a similar javzon to the one you listed. I wanted to make a zon that was the queen of zons, able to dish out both good jav damage and good bow damage, if that's at all viable. I have a wf and faith, along with the awesome jav setup you were talking about. Would making a zon with say, maxed cs and lf, gs and multi be legitimate in hell? Maybe with an a1 faith merc? I also have insight for an act 2 merc.

It is very viable. Strafe would be better than multi, if you want to go the hybrid route. Use either Faith or WF, doesn't really matter much at the point you'll be. Both will dish out good damage.

In this case, LF and Charged strike can still dish out good damage with Griffs and Infinity on your merc. Thunderstrokes still may play a role here, but Titan's still beats it out because of the repair and replenish mod. But keep it around. Then max strafe and maybe even a few in Frozen arrow. That would be a fun build.

A well geared bow/jav hybrid has major variation in how much you want to weight either side, both being potentially extremely powerful, and you'll be in situations where you can throw 2 lfs or fire off 3 multis in basically the same amount of time with equal effectiveness, but inevitably one tab is going to end up the primary, even though the secondary may still be capable of clearing efficiently in high player games without ever switching to the primary. Of CDM's links you've got the 1 running faith merc, fortitude, etc on the other hand 1 running infinity merc, griffons, etc.

You basically need to decide whether your first response to a crowd of non light immune, non physical immune enemies is going to be firing arrows or chucking javs and build from there, in fact the merc may be the best place to start planning a setup. Then you can start deciding exactly how you want to weight each tab with stuff like loh vs 2 java 20 ias, coh vs forti, griffons vs andys vs 120/45, 3/20/20s vs skillers.

As CDM mentioned I'm currently rewriting the windtitan guide, but since it'll not be finished anytime soon your best bet is to take a look at all the hybrid guides, and see witch one your think would fit your desired build the most. Then make adjustments that you think could improve the build and try them out.

Some general damages to aim for would in my eyes be 4k+ in your selected bowskill (strafe or multi, or both), 4k+ in charged strike, and 1,5k+ with your lightning fury.

Here's my current character of a few months ago:

Whit another level and a faceted monarch instead of the spirit I've gotten around 4,5k CS and 2k LF today. Along with its 4,7k multi and strafe both sides are strong enough to handle 8 player games, and well, anything below 3 players is a joke

The current one aside I've started thinking of new setups, one of them is dropping forti for a ed/ias ias armor and using an act 2 merc with either pride or infinity. This way you should lower multi with 1 frame, but gain either ~6kish arrows or the conviction aura. Might is about equal to the fana from a rogue so the infinity build shouldn't loose "on screen damage". Of course the annoying part for chaos runners will be the mercs death to IM ...
