No it's not. They said none except barb will appear, and a month later introduced wizard, which is pretty much the sorceress with changed name of the class.
You bring up a good point. I wouldn't so much see the entire idea of auras being removed so much as the mechanic being changed so that they can have more single player value. I do hope that there will be some "support" abilities in the game, not necessarily in a specific class but perhaps dispersed here and there throughout each of the classes so that it isn't one player's burden, if you will. Off the top of my head, I don't have any ideas for how a new paladin class' abilities would work, but considering Blizzard has a reputation for borrowing other games' ideas and improving upon them, I would look to other games for ideas.@Daedrith: and would that we, a paladin without the aura concept. All that is left are some combat skills - that can't be similar to the barbarian - some shield skill - though you can't fill a tree with just that - and some heaven magic.
There has to be a second aspect about the character. I just don't see enough skills for just that. Any idea what could be thrown in, to supplement the loss of aura's?
I just cant help to think that all classes will come back from d2.
D2 - D3
Barbarian - Barbarian -This class is the most diffrent from d2, all they kept seems to be whirlwind, but its all based on barbarians str.
Wizard - Sorcerer - Same old skills with a new touch - Fire/ice/lighting
Necromancer - Witch doctor - Summoning pets, curses, and spells.
So the rest of the classes should be an amazon called Archer which has diffrent add dmg to arrows (maybe spears too) and som defensive skills. Last class is a fighter kind probably named Fighter, which got auras and diffrent attack combos.
It's possible they'll scratch the concept altogether and just move on to another type of melee oriented class. Melee classes are definitely fertile grounds:Off the top of my head, I don't have any ideas for how a new paladin class' abilities would work, but considering Blizzard has a reputation for borrowing other games' ideas and improving upon them, I would look to other games for ideas.
You have no clue about a Paladin, They were an amazing class, I played Paladin's since Diablo 2 was released and there was nothing that could stop him.I never understand what people see in paladin in diablo 2.
Worst skills pool from all classes plus bad aura system, they should bring paladin in d3 and make him much, much, MUCH more better designed.
Just her specific background, and most of the actual abilities.Well, she's a magic-wielding woman. What's there NOT similar?![]()
Conceptually Witch Doctor is dark and spiritual like Necro, but he's primitive like the Druid and zany in his own way. In terms of play Skull of Flame looks like Sin's Fire Blast, Firebats is like Inferno or Arctic Blast... his offensive skills are nothing like what the Necro has, and he seems to have less basis on summoning.Necromancer - Witch doctor - Summoning pets, curses, and spells.
lol uh sorry to point this out but they only rock because of their bugged skills. hdins with unblockable magic dmg that gets boosted by a melee aura... smite that cant be blocked and doesnt take into count AR or DEF (and doesnt dmg shield but the weapon instead) and zeal which is usually easy to get by unless they are using LT.. this was in reference to pvp...You have no clue about a Paladin, They were an amazing class, I played Paladin's since Diablo 2 was released and there was nothing that could stop him.
He actually seemed to heavily rely on Summoning in the gameplay videos released last year.and he seems to have less basis on summoning.
You must be kidding. The WD only "heavily relies" on summoning because a pure-ish caster lacks heavy armor and a big red orb. The summons will most likely barely deal damage until they explode. Even in the gameplay trailer, in which all the monsters, bluntly put, sucked, the minions were mediocre at best in terms of dealing damage. He actually seemed to heavily rely on Summoning in the gameplay videos released last year.
They introduced him with summoning, so that shows that summoning may play a big part in his skill tree. Also when they claimed "He can handle himself on his own" basicly what they did was scare monsters away using something similar to the terror curse and summon monsters to help him. Seems summoning is a huge part of the game for this guy.
I'd prefer they just scrap the Witch Doctor and bring in the Necro again because the Necro was always my favourite character.
