The "Obvious" use for Infinity?

Just wondering why none of this has come up before (or rather, why it doesn't seem to be linked from the stickies at least). Why not just smack people with that giant pole with an axe-head on it?

Infinity does, afterall, have some +300% ED (likely more with a Superior weapon and a perfect roll). CV Requirements aren't ridiculous, especially if you consider armors like Enigma or Leviathan, and between Frozen Armor, Enchant, and Conviction you're going to wind up with pretty decent Hit-rates and Defense. Also, if you kill something you usually fire off a decently powerful Chain Lightning spell against everything else around it (I'm assuming you have to kill it with a physical attack, and not something ridiculous like getting a sort of Lightning Cascade thing to happen when you kill something with the triggered CL).

The slow attack speed will hurt. You also won't be able to get a good enchant since synergixing the chain lightning costs more than 80 points. It'll be quite hard for a melee sorc to survive without es or a shield for that matter

Re: The "Obvious" use for Infinity?

Its nice, fun and expensive build. Lots of items can be used, I mix some high end runewords to make this kind of build. Maybe some other combination could be better, but this for good enough for my taste.

I tested infy-thresher with my melee sorc in prev ladder. Both dia and baal went down quickly. Dream helmet, Forty-armor, Faith merc, infy thresher, 1/20/20 anni, 3/20/19 torch etc... goodies, so she survived just fine, no energyshield or BO.
Wizzy+Stormshield (max block) at switch, so there was always safe side if I couldn't survive with infy.
She needed only 24ias for 9frame attack (fastest with thresher). Faith rogue enchanted with lvl48 enchant did nice damage while sorc was holding infy.

Its fun, expensive build, but no problems with surviving or killing. Little easier to take out iron maiden knights, as merc can kill those.

High enchant (with max synergies gives around 15k fire damage). Dream helmet with max L-mastery gives enough lightning-damage. Forty-armor gives fcr and boost physical damage so there were three different damages at same time, while conviction boost those 2 a lot.
With fana-aura+conviction, no ar problems eithers. Or speed problems.

Wizzy+Forty (25 fcr),arach and 10fcr ring, gived nice 105fcr tele speed at switch. With max resist, max block, 35% damage reduced, so it was. So this tele/safe side was good enough to clear a bit until it was safe to switch to conviction side.

Forty gives +5max L-resist, so while teleing it was 80 L-resist, so little easier to kill souls.

I could maybe see this working if you equipped naj's circlet, dark adherent/cow kings armor/rare armor with all lightning procing suffixes, cow kings gloves, a rare amulet with 8% chance to cast chain lightning on attack and 14% chance to cast level 5 charged bolt when struck, and 2 wisp projectors/rare rings with all lightning procing suffixes.

But still, wouldn't crescent moon be better?

Really, it's just simpler just to stick Infinity on a merc. If you want to be a melee sorc, grab a beast axe, storm shield and pump warmth, enchant, telekineses and energy shield.

And fire mastery

Although some people like unusual builds.

Are there any other ways to improve CTC mods? Will some sort of +skills boost them?

Re: The "Obvious" use for Infinity?

Nah, the only way to bost ctc is to synergize, and get +% skill damage and -enemy resistance, and get a fast attack speed (or actually this is ctc on kill and not striking so fast attack speed doesn't help the ctc more than strong attacks
