The New Dr Who is Announced

Yes, there is to be a new Dr Who, after far too many years of waiting...

    from bbc.com

Not mentioned, but you may also recognise him as the Army Captain in 28 days later, so not your typical candidate I reckon.

Thought some of you guys and gals that like me are Sci-Fi geeks would be interested.

/me chortles madly while digging out his Dalek action figures.

I haven't watched Doctor Who since Peter Davison had the role -- quite a long time ago. I'll definately check this out.

There was a movie on Sci-Fi channel a few years ago where the last doctor changed into another, and The Master died for good. (Maybe.) Is it the same guy?

    Nope...

That is not the guy, who was in fact Paul McGann. Though he may make a guest appearance in the first of the new series, he will not be playing the Doctor throughout the series.

    *thanks goodness*

I thought Paul McGann had a lot of potential.

What would be really great is if they got Tom Baker to play some occasional minor role in some episodes. He'll always be the epitome of The Doctor to me.

If the actor who played Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart is still alive, he ought to be given a chance to guest appear once or twice.

I can hardly wait for this. Is it being released in the US for sure? I still watch old reruns every Saturday late-night on PBS if I can remember to. I started watching the show on a regular basis around 1981, and watched it until they canceled it in the later 80s. I have watched the reruns ever since.

The greatest TV show ever is finally revived! :)

I can say for almost 100% certainty that it will be released in the US. Quite frankly there is too much money to be made by the BBC for them not to consider it.
