    the NBA draft

    so.. yeah. it's kinda tonight.

    ^^

i'm a big heels fan, so i'm interested in where the four big unc players are headed to, as well as some of the "no-namers".

    some things to watch for:

number 1 pick - bogut or williams?

the three point guards - deron williams, ray felton, chris paul - what order will they go in?

and i'm sure there's more you guys can think of.

bogut, williams, paul. Those are my top 3. I am interested to see if the lakers move up also. I don't have huge expectations for this draft tho, it seems a little weak especially after the last 2 drafts had so much talent.

yeah i agree on the top 3. felton and d. williams are nice and all, but paul can really take over the game when needed. felton kind of can, but he's not really tall enough.

there were rumors about houston wanting may - i would love to see them move up and get him. may/yao = pwn.

I love Chris Paul, don't get me wrong. He's the best scoring/driving guard in the draft. He's not ont he same plane, but he reminds of me steve francis when he came out. I think Felton and Williams have a better chance to contribute,t hough, as they're better true point guards. They both pass, and Deron plays good on-ball defense. Felton's closest match, I think is Gilbert Arenas. And Deron, with his all-around game, reminds me of Jason Kidd(And in my opinion is a player who might be able to live up to that comparison. Deron has great upside, I think.) Bogut is good, but I think he'll fall like most other good bigmen do coming out of college. Unless he has athleticism, his ability to compete at the NBA level is limited. Watch him to end up like a Nick Collison or that Center from Texas a few years ago. Marvin Williams seems like a great prospect. Nice shot, Athletic(with the ability to rebound from the 3 spot), and very willing to learn. Julius Hodge is my pick if I'm in the middle rounds. He's going to contribute like a Shane Battier. He might not be a franchise player, but he can definitely make an impact.

See, I disagree. I think Chris Paul has the biggest upside out of the three point guards because he's so dynamic and creative. If you draft Deron Williams, you will get a solid player (provided that he shows he can handle NBA speed) who will contribute, especially to a young team. However, Paul has such a huge upside and limitless potential that although he's a little more of a risk, he can pay off huge.

I think Bogut should go first because big men are huge in the NBA and he's fairly polished already. Williams out of UNC has great upside as well, but he just seems a little too fresh to take as the #1 pick. But I guess that's just my take.

Being a huge UConn fan, I'm interested to see where Charlie Villanueva goes. He's not a star, but he'll give you good minutes and a solid rebounder with some offensive spark. And seeing how UConn players did in last year's draft, he's an even better pick up.

actually...villenuava, I like a lot. It's very rare, but workhorses can be very good in the NBA. No one thought Carlos Boozer would do anything in the pros. But he's proved that you can find money in good post defense and 9 rebounds a game.

Boozers defense sucks. Boozer is a good rebounded who shoots a nice percent on tips and knows his role. His biggest flaws are defense and decision making. He won't make it as a star, but Utah is desperate enough for bigs they took a shot.

Boozer plays good post defense. He's not a shot blocker, but he keeps players out of the paint and keeps a hand in players' faces. He could work on his help defense...but he's solid defensively.

It's about to start...this is my top 10. I want to see how close I am.

    1. Bogut
    2. Marvin Williams
    3. Deron Williams
    4. Gerald Green(My surprise pick, hah)
    5. Chris Paul
    6. Martel Webster
    7. Raymond Felton
    8. (Toronto Trade)
    9. Lithuanian kid
    10. Fran Vasquez

I think Channing will be taken 11th, as well. Interested to see how far off I am.

are you serious? he has to be like 40 by now.

and did you guys see when mccants's name was called and he went up? that was hilarious. he just tapped david stern's shoulder since he wasn't paying attention and like shrugged his shoulders.

Toronto has made some sucky picks/trades 2 years in a row now. I don't like the way Utah has handled themselves after the 2003 season either.

I am interested to see if charlotte can turn things around tho.
