The Middle Earth Mod Sorry if this is redundant. I searched around and couldn't turn anything up so here goes.. I know there's a running thread about accepting Mods but this isn't that and i'm eager to share tactics on the mod i am running. A couple weeks ago, after hearing so much about ATMA, the realm runeword enabler and others i went looking for them and similar things..kind of a general mod inquiry. In the process, i found the V & K Middle Earth mod, which also happens to be at the phrozen keep. Well, i grew up reading Tolkien and playing the Middle Earth Role Playing (MERP) sets and so i thought i would give this a whirl. I have to say, i think it's pretty ok. meaning good. it's hard, and i'm still going through some shock of..kind of letting go of all the typical D2LOD tactics. After being annoyed for a spell, it started to grow on me. I'm not going to go into the differences as there's a dedicated webpage but, if anyone ventures into this mod, I'd be happy to chat it up and help each other learn what and what not to do. Hmm..but i do suppose some kind of crux statement is in order..Essentially, there's far more emphasis on Rares and crafting than there is on runewords or godly sets. It's set up so that you have more of a hand tailoring your gear. Furthermore, all items like runes and gems have a greater number and strength of mods. In theory (at lower levels anyway- i JUST made it to NM) you could make some great armor out of runes and jewels and not have to rely on an exact sequence of pieces to make a good item. Oh yeah- mods to AI, monster stats, and of course, uniques, sets and many chars are lifted from Middle Earth. A few nights ago i found the Arkenstone as an example. *Note to the moderators- i know the url is not at phrozen, but the forum for the mod is hosted at the keep and i figured that was close enough. Furthermore, while i recognize the existence of another forum, it's REALLY quiet over there and, this is a pretty wise community.* Apologies to the mods if this is in the wrong place or annoying in some other fashion.
