The Mid-Ranger

Just popped into my head. I don't really have a formal name for him, but he's essentially a non-tank that specializes in not short or long range, but mid range attacks. Relying on keeping enough distance between him and his opponents to avoid damage. Main weapon could be a whip, spear, or throwing weapons.

Potential skill trees:
Inhibition(contains skills for keeping enemies at bay)
Wide Range(contains skills for taking out multiple enemies with his weapons)
Weapon Specialization(contains skills for passively improving different weapon types)

A guy like this would probably be a lot more fun to play as than a long ranger that just spams arrows off of the screen.

It just seems so...bland. I mean the idea of the spear is cool to me, but the skill trees just seem so bland

I like the idea of a mid-ranger, but the skill trees need a lot of work. It needs more than one tree with attacking skills, and it shouldn't have a tree just for passives. I realize the D2 Barb basically had both of those, but Blizzard has admitted that character wasn't designed very well, which is one of the reasons they're bringing it back in D3.

I would be easier to get interested in a mid ranger if you could explain what some of the skills would be.

Right, it's a little hard to come up with skills for a general class like this. If anyone could name some decent mid-ranger type warriors from history or fantasy, then we could probably come up with some good trees. Till then I guess I could just brainstorm openly. Actually, until we can come up with a decent lore or whatever, we should consider these different skill types rather than trees

-Inhibition(contains skills for keeping enemies at bay)
-Wide Range(contains skills for taking out multiple enemies with his weapons)
-Weapon Specialization(contains skills for passively improving different weapon types)

-Evasion(contains skills for moving around)
-Fast Attacks(self explainatory)
-Guard Moves(moves that require the button to be held to reduce and return damage. ex. holding a pike out)
-Recklessness(moves that put you in danger, but yield high damage)

I'm purposely not mentioning elemental skills because unless the lore calls for it, then it just doesn't seem to fit or just feels tacked on.
