The Meteor Myth

I havent been online that much lately but it seems the meteor myth is still around. You know the one saying that meteor kills reduces exp gained. I thought it was a myth at first but it seems people still stand by it, so is it true or false?

I asked the same question in the Sorceress Forum a month back, and it is a myth.

I once met a guy online who pointed me towards a german diablo 2 site where he told me they have prooved that meteor gave less exp, the only article I could find about it said that it was a "urban legend".

it's a myth, but it's still annoying. the only thing that lags a game more is a necro.

Indeed that's the second reason mentionned after the XP bug myth ("omg stop meteors it makes my computerlag"). I usually answer them "Hey, i'm not responsible if you have a crappy computer :lol: ! Buy a new videocard and let the other players play :lol: !".

I get lags when my zealot is under massive fire from the blowgun flayers in WSK 3 or the skeleton mages of Baal wave 2, triggering zillions of poison novas of Andy's Visage :lol:

but there is no xp bug otherwise my sork would me a little low lvl still

Yesterday, I was in a real nice Baalrun game. We did ~7-8 full runs together, with 2 or 3 sorcs spamming meteors (including me ). Who will complain ? Monsters dyiing like flies :lol: ! And nobody complaining about that phantomatic XP Bug or whatever. *Aaah*, clever people at last :lol: !

In 1.09 MANY players believed that opening the cow level with a full TP tome spawned more cows which it did NOT. This meteor thing is no different.

People on b.net are dumb as a bag of hammers.

i would say a bag of hammers is more clever
at least they can hurt
