The Lib-a-Gris, my whacky experiment.

So I've lost almost ALL interest in regular PvP builds and I'm going to do something that will completely baffle the lot of you.

A Liberator... Crazy huh? Oops, A Liberator using Griswold's Set. Scared? I figure if I'm going to make a character for a grand finale to PvP might as well try something that seems to have NO chance at surviving and blow all my wealth on it. (I think this may cost just as much as a regular liberator lol)

Anyways let's start with gear.

Griswold's Valor - socketed with Cham + Ber
Griswold's Heart - socketed with Ber + Ber + Ber
Griswold's Honor - socketed with Um + Um + Um
Griswold's Redemption - Lo + Lo + Lo + Lo
Trang-Oul's Claws Heavy Bracers
Arachnid's Mesh Spiderweb Sasg
Gore Rider War Boots
10%FCR Rare Ring (/w mana/res)
Angelic Halo Ring
Angelic Wings Amulet

10/18/xx Annihilius
xx/15+/3 Ptorch
5 x Plain Pcombat GCs
2 x Single Resist/5%FHR SC (1LR + 1CR)
1 x 8%FHR/30mana LC
Rest - life/mana SCs (17+/10+)

Skills:
1- Smite
1- Holy Bolt
1- Holy Shield
1- Might
1- Prayer
1- Cleansing
1- Defiance
1- Redemption
13- Charge
20- Blessed Hammer
20- Blessed Aim
20- Vigor
20- Concentration

Finished at level 90.

Any thoughts on gear or socket choices please feel free to give advice and comments, all are appreciated.

I love your idea but had a different opinion on what you should socket. I'll give you my reasons.

Griz Valor - Ber + Jah
Griz Heart - Jah + Jah + Jah
Griz Honor - Ber + Ber + Ber
Griz Redemption - Ohm + Ohm + Ohm + Ohm

Skills - same as yours but also 1 in Salvation, making you work for an extra level

Ok here is my reasoning. The Ber's are self explanitory and neccisary so I wont discuss thier place in Griz Set. I replaced Cham because Cannot Be Frozen is not all that neccisary on a charge/caster, and you can always replace your angelics with Metalgrid+RFrost if the sorb/ar vs casters is nessisary.

I replaced the Um's on Honor because the set bonus will give you +100res, and this is enough in Hell to have max before Conviction/Lower Res is cast on you. In those cases you can switch to Salvation. For your troubles of using Salvation, you gain 20%+ on your total life from the Jahs. This should help immensly as your hps will be lower then other Vindicators.

Finally I replaced the Lo's with Ohms because 4xLo = 80 Deadly Strike, and Deadly strike would have a 95% chance with your whole set to do double dam no? With Ohms you will do double damage 100%, with a 15% chance to double that again with your remaining Deadly strike from Gores.

You could switch up your charms to compensate for the lack of Um's also by changing your two 11res scs to 5resall/fhr scs, and the lc to 1 fhr/mana sc + and other 5res all+whatever sc.

Afaik, the set bonus is +50 to all resistances... I'm getting my info solely from the Blizzard site. (Unless you're referring to the +5 from the helm +45 from the shield and +50 from set completion)

If the set completion bonus is in fact +100 this means removing 2 of the Um runes would not affect my resistances in any way. Which thus changes everything.

I'm going to keep my cham rune for the sole reason that I wont be charging 100% of the time and being frozen is simply annoying in that case. If you're opting to charge 100% then removing the cham isn't such a big problem.

In this case my new setup will be:

Valor: Ber + Ber
Heart: Ber + Ber + Ber
Honor: Cham + Um + Ko
Redemption: Ohm + Ohm + Ohm + Ohm (thinking 40/15max might be viable as well)

Would you opt for the 48%FCR or 75%FCR breakpoint?

And I dont think your life should be all that low with BO and considering with a 1 pt. HS and all the +skills you only need 146 dexterity to hit 75% block. And with the +60 dexterity from the set and 20 base dex and 10 from Ko rune and minimum of 20 from A&T you're looking at 56 dexterity invested. (With no 75%FCR switch you can -10 or -20 from your total using angelics set or ravenfrost ring, making a total of 26 or 16)

With the highest requirement in strength being 148 iirc and with the set bonus of +40 strength and the 25 base and at minimum 20 from A&T you're looking at 63 strength invested.

So at clvl 90 (445 stats + 15 from lam esen quest) you're looking at a minimum of 371 with angelics, 381 with raven, points into vitality, (with perfect A&T you're looking at 411 & 417 with angelics and raven respectively)

The Ohm idea is great and I'm definately going to go that route if the damage is higher than 4 x 40/15maxdmg jewels.

This setup gives me,
40%DR
48%FHR /w previous charm setup
48%FCR
Very high investment in Vitality
Max Resistances
Style points

Need more critiques on this build peoples! come one, come all...

The Cham+Ko+Um is your style, vs. my taist of Jah's, so thats cool and customizing the build/equipment to your playstyle is one of the most fun things about pvp with unique sets. :)

I couldn't tell you which break point for FCR I would go for. I can say that 75% is more then enough, but you may be able to sneak by with 48%. I would recommend trying both and desiding which suits you.

I strongly suggest avoiding ed/ias jewels in favor of 50%ed Ohms because the Caddy is basically a charge stick, and you will want the most punch for each charge. Ias will improve neither charge nor hammers, your two main attacks. If this was for pvm I would definatly see where you may want ed/ias because you would likely have 1pt. wonders for zealing.

I love your thread and this has me thinking I may build one myself. Thanks for sharing Bass.

Your charge damage is gonna be hella weak with a griz caddy , Grief is what makes or breaks Libbys imo since you can also deal decent smite damage with fanaticsm.

I don't like the idea myself since i don't think it will perform to good and not having teleport is a big disadvantage for a paladin. (Bone Prison?)

Why not just go for a normal Libberator setup that will perform 100 times better then usin griwalds set ? I can even help you get the gear bro i have a extra 2 socket COA etc...

Good ol' kibbers trying to rescue a bored... very bored! wolf brethren.

If you can help me out then I suppose something could be going on here, I just see getting a grief pb or zerk as a major major hassle.

But I'd love to rip up the pubs with you on NL and show everyone what we're about eh?

Yes , just promise me you won't waste your funds on this steaming pile of wolf scat.

If you want a character for style points then just use your werewolf!

It would be much funner to make a paladin with the ability to take on everything with out a main weakness for stuff that yer werewolf can't kill such as smiter pansies..

Ill be on later tonight & yes i do have a extra grief.

You found a original name for your new paladin yet?

Ethelwulf (meaning Noble Wolf)

There was one that meant Knight possessed by the spirit of the werewolf, but it was taken! I wanted it sooo bad.

Word.

Thanks man.

EDIT: Looked through my items and I got the following for my guy already:
Trang's Gloves
Enigma Mage Plate
Ravenfrost Ring
FCR rare ring [10fcr/82mana/20~~CR/5FR-PR-LR) (not sure if this is needed, depends on FCR on spirit right?)
Gore Rider War Boots (thinking tri-res would be better)
Annihilius
Arachnid's Mesh

And about 7 x 20life scs

It's a start.

Yeah I read it several times. 3 times.

I like that version too, less charge damage but most charging is vs. casters from what I can tell.

Ina: Pull a bassman... invent a insanely crazy build and wait. Ha, just kidding but I appreciate the Kiba-generosity that goes on.
