UHUH... Its back.... The Etf Dueling Tournament 2008 Is HERE !!!!!

Intro.

Last year i hosted the 1st official ETF dueling tournament and with a pittiful 12 applicants it was over too quick. After Normannen was aclaimed Winner of the last one he sugested to me that in the next dueling tourny i introduce a league table. This is what i aim to do exactly.

<~~~~RULES~~~~>

No potions. (incl.antidotes and thawing etc.)
No Mercanaries.
Any general "BM" will result in an automatic loss of that "Match".
No entering town after the duel has started.
No 3rd party programs or hacks to be used (OFC).
No chat spamming (yes people do try to use this to win)
HAVE FUN !​

The Duel.

1. Duelers enter game with a referee, this can be anyone that i am able to contact to ask for help in times of dispute. (The referee is not always necesary as not all players will have the risk of a dispute between them but you dont have to duel without a ref if you dont want to.)

2. Precasting/Bo'ing summoning etc,etc is to be done.

3. Players are to get in to an agreed "fair" starting position this must be off of each others screens.

4. Both players signal that they are ready eg. "g" "go" "ready" etc.

5. As soon as one player dies or breaks a rule the other player gains 1match point.

6. Its best of 3 so there are a maximum of 2 points available per match.​

Then you post the results of youre match back here

Would be nice to spice it up with an inlay, say ~Um, and make a prize where the winner gets 60% of total inlay, runner up 30% and third 10% (this is just a suggestion). With this system, referees are a must in matches though..

I've no char that's ready to go though, so i will be eagerly looking forward to a future round.

edit: Yeah Um may be steep indeed, and i completely agree with you if you're saying that it'd be more for funs and skill to win this tournament. Good idea of the home / away thingy!

@dizzy , there are many people that will think that finding an Um is like winning the lottery as they are soo poor and they may still wish to take part in this tournament and as last time the entry fee was set at a pul in the end, and then many people said they would have taken part in the competition if there as no fee and it was more for FUN than a prize, also this give speople that prefer to make different build a good place to test them as they wont have to pay and the duels are hopefully going to be very well structured. But yeah refs would be needed and this could also prove to be a problem.
And TBH i would like it to be for a prize at the end but also i would like more for this to be a success and to achieve that i need to do what u want.

NEW IDEA.

A Home/Away type system.

Players can be able to choose a Home "staduim" this is always the 1st area of any act.

Not only does this give a possible opportunity for new builds? but also it adds more variety and also a way of stopping ties due to the away "goal"(point) system

and i love to duel outside A5

btw quick question: my only equipped HLD char at the moment is a blizzer. you said pre-casting is ok, does this mean I can prebuff es, then switch to bo gear THEN start duel? would love to fin this out

PS I'd love to see duel in A3 open. kinda pain to walk out tho. (all are really except A1)

@Lizardking, ill say no its not BM but there is a limit, im not going to say youre only aloud 10BW's but if youre being ridiculous ans spamming them out so no body can go anywhere (u know what i mean), then thats BM, ill leave it to the Ref's disgresion.

@mystified yeah thats fine i mean if you where a melee sorc that had 0points in chant you could do your es then use Dlimb to chant then finally put your Bo gear on to Bo. ;D

btw, level boundaries should be restricted?
i am asking this mainly for some llders (and mld to some extent). since

1) hell rushing. makes huge difference in lld. that extra 8 skills, 60 life, and 15 stats really do. especially any cahr that's doing lv30 duels. (this can easily be checked in chnnel ofc by seeing character title). this is a bit ahrder for mld if hell rush is not availble since...well lvling to 49 is rather boring in norm

2) level restirction on builds? hdins and smiters have rather nice build set ups at lld around 30 lv... especially h din. nerf?

3) hld..well any level above 50 i guess. duelling ground shold be hell ofc. in which case one needs to wonder what you will do about 'norm' gear set up. i mean when u know you are going against blizz you will stack and prepare for it. I am to assume you will only allow gear changes 'after' 1st match, or will u allow gear change from the very beginning?

4) hang on..no potions in hld too? not even mana pots? (this is just a nit picking. sry!!! :hide

@mystified, hell rushiing is aloud, not an "unfair advantage" any1 can do it if they want requires only time.

LLD= 9-30 inclusive
MLD=30-50 inclusive
HLD =50+

yeah that does mean you can enter a char in to 2 categories if you wish

the gear you enter the game with should be the gear you FIGHT with. weopoon switch is aloud OFC.

Mana Pots may/may not be aloud (my problem with mana pots is ES sorcs)


@blawa what did you have in mind?

Well i thought about following things:
- how manny Facetts should be allowed on wich Char?
- How manny Damage Reduce should be allowed on wich Char?
- How manny Absorb/maxresis/stackedResis against wich Char?
- Restrictions about Skills from other Classes (lt charges/%for AD/ Dec. Charges and so on)
- Knockback / Slow must be banned (except skills that have auto kb, like smite)
- Will Boneprison will be allowed?
- fasterRun restrictions?

Hmmm those are the things that came me into my mind atm ^^

I would prefer to make it pure LLD ^^

lld tourney sounds awsome (its so hard looking for one ^^)

altho my personal preference in lld is anything over lv 9 shouldn't be hell rushed which also following lld101's rule (u do have more dmg output and more importantly the fact that you can't see normal games )

if you do decide for lld tourney, why not make one for each sub level types; vlld (lv9), mid lld (lv18), and lld (lv30). u can make exceptions i guess but then u will need to state why and what level

also i thought of blawa's post and agree that some needs to be addressed. spurs are shold be banned ofc, but things like kb are needed on certain chracters ('couhh' bowa 'cough')

few things I'd like to add are

1) defensive play and potting. I know many llders have just started and don't have mana lc/sc for required levels but potting shouldn't be allowed. ES sorc I agree but defensive play to regen mana/hp in lld and hld are rather annoying.

2) teleport on sorc @ lld. should not be allowed as other characters cannot follow sorcs. simple as that. (with exception of charging dysinch for which sorc should be alright to tele with)
