The craving strikes again!!

    BRAINS!!11!!!

Er, I mean, action/adventure/rpg. I really need a good a/a/rpg. I thought about going back to the-game-that-shall-not-be-mentioned, but I really want something else. I played, beat, and really enjoyed Fable, one of the aspects of it I enjoyed the most was the fighting system. Just sort of free-style fighting, not turn based and the ability to attack more than one enemy at once. Killing three guards and once with the mighty swing of a sword is nice.

I need something new that will hopefully contain some of those elements in its gameplay. Any suggestions?

One, preferably, without a monthly subscription cost. I'm open to console ideas, too.

Console = Xbox, PS2 (no gamecube here)

I have the first, it is good, very good. But it is turn-based (no free-style shoot whenever and attack whatever as much as you want while using the 5 D's to your advantage).

WoW. The fees aren't that much. $12/month is less than you spend going to one movie and buying popcorn and a coke to go with it. And you'll get many more hours of entertainment out of it, not to mention the fact that Blizzard is constantly and continually updating the game and expanding it.

On the topic of WoW, how bad are the graphics requirements? I mean, I'd prefer people speaking from experience rather than just citing the base requirements from the box. I have a Geforce4 Ti 4600, and one of the reasons I've been holding off from playing is that I'm not sure my computer will run it all that well. 2.53ghz cpu and 1 gig of ram, for reference if that's necessary.

Dude, one of my friends is running it on a Geforce 2 MX that is contained within his prehistoric rig.

I'm using a radeon 9600XT and it runs just fine for me, I don't have everything maxed out but I have enough to make it look great.

    You will be fine.

Arcanum was good. It has the option of turn based or real-time combat, has thousands of ways to build your character, and has an interesting story line. The only downfalls are no random dungeons or anything of the sort and it is easy to level. The quick leveling does help to keep interest in the game, but it also make some things way too easy. It's also very puzzle based if that's your thing.

EDIT: It's a PC game made by Sierra.

Jade Empire comes out on the 12th for Xbox. It's going to be a Kung Fu RPG set in Ancient China with magic and the like. I'm 99% sure the combat is real time as well. It's been talked up and down just about everywhere. It's BioWare's (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights) latest game, so you know it's going to be good, if you like their style. IGN has done tons of previews on it, you should read about it.

    Un-PC

Yes, but it's better on PC. I'd try KOTOR (it's pretty involved, but I don't like turn-based combat so it's not for me but I still acknowledge that it's a good game).

I don't know who recommended it in another thread, and it's java driven, and you need win2k or somesuch, but damn it's a free diablo-esque game and addictive.

NWN is a true RPG, not one of theose bastardized ones counsoles offer. Prepare for Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 rules. I also recomend Baldors Gate 2.
