Re: The comic book thread

I finally have League of Extraordinary Vols 1 & 2 as well as The Black Dossier, so I'll be diving into that fairly soon.

Right after I finally finish off Guns, Germs and Steel.

League 1 was great, League 2 was pretty good but it felt like it kind of wandered around a bit and didn't resolve itself properly. It's fine as long as he makes more... it just doesn't really work as a final issue.

i agree, league two never seemed to find itself if that makes any sense. hyde stole the show though. brutally raping the invisible man before staring down the martians, classic.

i just started reading the spirit. i got the complete series.

Will Eisner series or the relaunch by Darwyn Cooke? I got the first 6 or so issues of the relaunch and it was good, but I just couldn't afford to buy so many comics and I cut it.

I heard about the relaunch, sounded interesting. There's also Greyshirt, which is Alan Moore and Rick Veitch's homage to the Spirit. It's very good, especially the one in Tomorrow Stories #2.

Yeah, totally. In a way following the war of the worlds arc so tightly forced it to be a bit predictable, the first one was much more free-form and it went from one thing to another, knitting them together into a whole. So it found itself while L2 got a little lost.

I'm also kind of annoyed that Alan Quatermain as yet has not actually done anything. Well, except Mina. Oh, and he shot a roof.

I must get Dossier.

Especially The Killing Joke, it's one of the major inspirations for Batman '89.
