The Brawler

so i was thinking the other day about what i could do that would be different and thought this up.

an auraless paladin using smite and vengeance as attacks. one on the left one on the right. It wouldn't be a completly auraless paladin though. a mercenary could offer some auras as well as maybe a weapon. However i was thinking that it would be better for a brawler not to use a weapon but i dont know how that would work with smite.

thats about as far as i have gotten though. any suggestions or comments? i don't know if i will ever get around to trying it but you never know.

Smite needs a shield. Lol, and what kind of a brawler uses a shield anyway? So r u thinking of an auraless pally fighting with his fists alone?? Hehe, that will be an awesome sight... How about using Charge instead of Vengeance?

If u need a weapon which is pretty much useless in melees, try a wand with good elemental damage, and perhaps Ignore Target's Defense? No idea if that helps tho... just my 2 cts I guess.

maybe a dagger. after all it's small and easily concealed in one's boot or something. and it kinda sounds like something a crooked brawler might do.

my idea was to have two main attacks, and ones that aren't often paired. like you said a brawler doesn't really use shields so smite would be out. charge sounds like it would be a good idea. then sacrifice? vengeance? those are really the only other two that i can think of that would work with this idea for a build.

if i can swing it i might shoot for some absorb type things. the question i have is does that absorb then heal you or just not hurt? it would be cool if you could get some decent resists along with absorbs in all the elements, it might actually work. I have been thinking about gear a bit and this is what i have come up with:

Weapon: none or fleshripper/ghostflame depending if i allow myself a dagger.

Helm: Kira's guardian. i have a perfect one somewhere so was thinking it might be useful.

Ring: Wisp Projector (light absorb i believe.) And Dwarfstar (fire resist i believe.)

Armor: Shaftstop most likely. Some PDR will be necessay.

Boots: Barring a better option that i haven't found yet im thinking gores.

Belt: I dont know.

Gloves: dont know either

Ammy: Saracens, Highlords, Atmas, Maras

lol sounds alot of fun. maybe a string for life leech or a thundergods for the light absorb (more cant hurt can it?) as a belt??
Rising sun could also be a good amu for fire absorb.

hmmmm didn't think of leeching. maybe i should? i dont know, might be kinda fun not to but most likely even more suicidal. maybe i will try it non ladder. i think that i have a corruption grip there.

Shrimp's right. Ethereal Demon's Limb would rock for a brawler. At lower lvls may I suggest the oft-overlooked Heartcarver rondel. With Ignore Target's Defense and 35% Chance of Deadly Strike, it sounds just like the brawler's weapon of choice.

Boots: Goreriders or War Travs for the + dmg mod? Goblin Toe could work too.
Gloves: Crafted ones with 10% Crushing Blow, 20IAS n Leech.
Armor: none of the metallic ones, obviously.
Belt: I'd go with Strings

Main Attack: Charge? Or Zeal? (with maxed synergies)

Basically load up on crushing blow / deadly strike. Against PIs in Hell, I think he's probably toast. No shields, no aura = poor defense. He can get a Defiance merc tho, can he not?

Elemental dmg would look odd on a brawler, so I'd throw Vengeance out. For resists a point in Salvation would do but since he's auraless this is probably not an option.

This could still be a fun build.

I think he should be allowed a merc, "hired help" for when the brawling gets to tough  of course maybe a barb merc would suit the brawing image abit better but the act2 defiance merc would deffinatly help the build.

so we could have a pure brawler (or maybe a drunken brawler) with

20 sacrifice
20 zeal
20 charge
20 vigor
20 might

this is possible right? as far as i know there are 110 possible skill points. this would put me at 104. only 4 points are used in prerequisites so that is kinda nice.

or we could have a cowardly brawler with
20 sacrifice
20 zeal
20 smite
20 holy shield
and can throw in charge as well.

then for eq:

Helm- Kira's for resists
Armor- Shaftstop for PDR
Weapon 1- Fleshripper Fanged Knife or Demon Limb
Weapon 2- Unarmed or the other of the two above
Belt- String for PDR and ll
Boots- Gores
Rings- Wisp projector, dwarf star, ravenfrost
Ammy- havent decided yet, maras is nice, mahim oak curio might be nice to. rising sun would let you get rid of dwarf star and put raven on. saracens and atmas would give chances to cast some helpful curses.
Shield (optional)- what else but herald. maybe a nice rare would do, but i put my money on herald.

Merc- Act 2 defiance with "doom" polearm and bramble armor. an alternate merc could be a barb with the beast runeword and bramble armor. another that would be fun is an act three cold merc with beast and bramble and a nice shield

one other thing i was thinking that would be cool is if there was an item with the barbs taunt warcry on it. that would make my day.

im not such a big fan of the barbarian. i dont think that it would be as fun as a pally. but it would work.

charge and sacrifice.... hmmm sounds like fun. I think that that is what the skills should be (or maybe we could call that a drunken brawler.) I would actually be interested in seeing if someone would make this. I only have a 56k connection, and that is finneky most of the time, and as such not real conducive to trying something like this. If anyone is interested keep me updated on what happens.

Hmm.... I got a couple more ideas....

I don't think a brawler would wear any heavy metallic armor, so you'd have to stick with lighter leather armors.... Gladiator's Bane would work.... and you couldn't really wear a metal helm... so you'd have to use either a circlet or a leather helm.... as for weapons, a knife or beating stick (club) would work...

Skillwise, I like what you're doing with the Sacrifice and Charge, makes sense for a brawler.... you should synergize those skills though.... and to make a drunken brawler, I think you should put more points into Str.... drunk=more power, less accuracy.
