The "are you racist?" thread Imagine that you have a beautiful blonde daughter, and you find out that she is seeing a black guy and they want to have kids together. Do you flinch or cringe at the thought? If so, you're racist. When someone says, "I'm not racist, but..." be prepared to note that this person is, in fact, racist. It is much like when someone says, "No offense, but you're an idiot." The "no offense" part basically has no meaning other than a weak attempt to protect the insulter from recieving retaliatory insults. When someone reacts to an accusation of racism by stating "Hey, I have black friends!" this is actually a racist comment, because it assumes that, if they like one or two black people, then they must surely like them all, with the subtle presumption being that they are all alike.
