the all elemental team paladin questions

myself and family/friends are looking for something a little different from diablo2 so we decided to try an all elemental team. none of us will have physical attacks, we'll only be using the 5 elements (fire, cold, lighting, poison & magic) there will be 4 to 8 of us playing. we have a question related to paladin's and specifically the meditation skill and aura switching.

we're having a hard time deciding if we need two paladin's in the team or just one.

our thinking is that the paladin will be the mana source for the party with maxed meditation. this way, all characters can save stat points with no or minimal points in energy.

obviously, the paladin will have maxed conviction which we'd want to have in effect all the time. does aura switching still work like it did in 1.09? We're hoping one paladin will be enough and he can switch between conviction to reduce monster resistances, and meditation to ensure that the party always has enough mana. would this work or should we have a seperate paladin to use the meditation aura?

Wow it's nice to be able to form a team and play cooperative.

I would say you only need 1 paladin with conviction. Don't worry about meditation, since the higher level damage spells (blizz, meteor, orb) are all pretty mana efficient. The only one that might have trouble would be the chain lightning sorc.

You might also consider a necro for tanking (max skellie and raise mastery, some revive) and to cast lower resistance.

Make sure you plan out your merc usage also, so you can get holy freeze, defiance, might, etc etc :D

yeah it is cool to have people to play with who you know and trust, who all work for the party instead of themselves.

we are definitely having a necro with lower resist. we're trying to make everyone specialize in different elements so he is specializing in a magic attack (bone spirit) since there are so few of them in the game.

we'll have a sorc with maxed meteor and all synergies and a zon with frozen arrow and a kick *** valk tank. we'll just use our mercs and the valk as tanks all damage is multiplied by conviction and lower resist.

those are the 4 primary characters anyway

(we haven't actually started this team yet but we're in the final planning stages)

And here I thought you were making an all Pally team, one with max Holy Shock, one with max Holy Fire and one with max Holy Freeze. Put that along a conviction pally, and you don't have to worry about mana at all. Ok, you do have to get up-close and personal attack-wise, but that would be ok with me.

You're lacking in poison, but you can get that from either a Necro or a Javazon.

i think the zon build will include plague javelin and poison javelin for synergy so she will have both cold and poison. what we don't have with the main four characters in the team is lightning.

since we're going all elemental, how do you feel about actually using the act 3 mercs for once?
