Grief is for the +340-400 damage mod. The damage is added to smite (doesn't show up on the LCS). The damage is also added to zeal (doesn't show up on the LCS as far as I know). That damage is quite impressive. It also offers ITD (which ebotd does not), which is great for patching any lack of AR you might have.

I've never owned a nice ebotd zerker, so I can't compare it, but as far as killing things goes, you don't really need more than what Grief gives you. But if you like your ebotd, then go for it. It's by no means a bad weapon to have.

They are the same for the most part when compairing the zeal damage... However, for smite, there is nothing that can even hope to compete with Grief... Period...

For my 1pt smiter, Im thinking of just putting enough str and dex to wear my equipment and putting the rest into vitality, however I heard that putting more in str will increase smite damage, so should I put some in str and how much?

Also, does enchant help smiters ?

No, I have no clue where you heard that, isn't 1 str basically 1 damage? If so why would you do that.

If you are using Grief, smite damage is taken care of... Even if you aren't, CB will take care of the damage... Vita is more important in most cases... You don't want to roll in there with 700 health, and get one shoted...

So how much hp do you need ..?

Btw, I've now got everything I need (eq-wise) but Gris shield and 1x ring:

    Grief PB 35/362
    Guillaume's
    Fortitude AP 27
Raven 16/181 (thinking about getting a better one)
    T-Gods
    Gore
    Draculs
    Metalgrid 27

That leaves me with the following resistances in hell:
    36
    58
    33
    32

With Gris that'll be 102 more to all of them...
The only thing I can socket is Guillaumes, but Im torn between putting in a 37ED 7FCR jewel / 15IAS jewel or an um rune..
What would be the fittest choice?

IAS Jewel.. no! You have Grief PB = max attack speed already. Put the UM rune for +15 res, because you WILL need it.

3 attacks, but they all do the same type of damage, so no real point. Stay with zeal. You will never need sacrifice for anything, unless you like reading that <your name> was slain by <your name>

It's the only other skill that will really help this build. 20k defense makes sitting in a crowd of mobs a lot more manageable, and makes sure you're swinging your sword rather than blocking with your shield.

Blessed aim gives a passive bonus to AR, meaning that you don't have to have it on to have an increase in AR, much the same as 2 points in a resistance aura will give you 1 extra max resistance to that element. If you're using grief it's a non-issue, for non-act bosses ITD works, for act bosses use smite for the same effect.

My friend has a pure smiter. He doesn't kill ubers much faster than me, though he does whoop me in a duel, however I can run through the entire game very easily, while he can basically only kill the big guns quickly. It's a trade off.

If you're using Fortitude I'd be very surprised if your damage with BoTD is higher than that of Grief. BoTD has 4x damage + Fortitude's 3x damage = 7x base damage. A zerker axe has about 47.5 avg, which is increased for ethereal, so lets say 60 base avg damage. 7x60 = 420. Grief actually adds at worst 340 damage per attack. 340 x 3x from fortitude = 1020, and add in the weapon damage on top of that, and since the damage is added directly Grief will hit for that amount at least. If you're going to have a weapon on switch, I've seen 3 main recomendations: low physcal damage, high elemental damage weapon for PI's, Wand with life tap charges, or CTA for BO. I personally use azurewrath because I'm not opposed to popping a few pots while waiting for life tap to kick in from Dracul's if needed, and BO really isn't needed with the life leech and life tap given by the awesome damage of Grief. 2x HoZ's is probably over doing it, but if you got the runes then why not?

Your math is faulty. You do not add the 3x damage of fortitude, as you should be only calculating weapon damage (non weapon ED should be identical with identical setup). I get 366.975 with eBotDz, assuming sup 15% and perfect roll. I got 373 for worst grief PB. Non weapon ED like fort adds to fanaticism/zeal/str/etc bonus.

ie. A grief is definitely better, but not as much as you think.

I see what you're saying. I made the wrong assumption, I didn't know that weapon damage is a seperate calculation. BotD is definitely a contender, so either/or would do you good.

I'm going to be using Grief PB, so I don't have to worry about putting any into Blessed Aim? I think Ill put the rest into Defiance.

So, at last I've aquired the eitems needed for running UT (spare 1½ keysets).

    EQ:
    Guillaume's [Um]
    Fortitude AP 27
    Grief PB 35 / 362
    Gris Shield [3PDiamonds]
    Draculs 7% / 15
    7% lifeleech ring
    Raven
    Metalgrid 27
    Gore
    T-Gods/Crescendum

    126 FR
    148 CR
    123 LR
    122 PR

    1428 hp
    14'255 Def
    75% Block

    Zeal Dmg: 777-935
    Smite Dmg: 397-937

Can I take on über meph & co?

And also, could anyone give an UT-Virgin a few tips?

If you use Salvation/Treachery for Mephi, you'll be fine. In terms of tips... you've got 224 pages of them right here ;)

Exactly, for zeal since grief has ITD your AR doesn't matter and smite hits everytime so you don't need AR
