Temp bans and why i hate them!!

2 days in a row now i have been minding my own business, leveling a character legitimately. And out of nowhere, not when trying to join a game but, on exiting a game i have already been in i get disconnected and slapped with a temp ban. That's fine, i expect to be able to log back on in a few minutes. 12 hours later my account is unlocked. I am able to play for several hours before again the exact same thing, leave a game get disconnected and temp banned, pushing the 12 hour mark for this ban as well. whats strikes me as odd is both bans came on at almost the exact same Minute of the day. Right around 3am west coast USA time. So in a roughly 48 hour period i have been banned from my Us west Diablo chars for 24 of those hours. yet the bots seem to never end, and as what feels like one of the only non-botting players left in D2 (no offense to those legit players that do exist still) i feel like this is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be addressed. Anyone else had issues with temp bans at around that same time of day? This is incredibly frustrating, to have my weekend gaming shut down by bull****, while the bull**** that needs to be stopped continues unabated. Thanks for taking the time to read a rant like this. I play Single Player. I've played online, but the SP experience I find to be far superior. Good luck to you.

For some reason my parents' place was IP banned. No idea why. Had to reset their IP addy from their provider. Pain.

Seriously, not that I'm a botter or duper, but honestly, who cares? Does it really affect anyone else's play when people do those things? This isn't a true MMO where we're all inhabiting the same world. We just make our own instances. I don't see the problem. Of course, I don't do those things personally, but I suffer from the attempts to stop them when I try to level on Pindle runs, etc.

What really annoys me isn't just the ban, but the fact that after gettin restricted you are absolutely oblivious about the fact, when the ban will END.
I lost a whole day yesterday, yes i guess i was impatient, but come on, i waited 45-50 minutes and i was still banned.
Does anybody how long how one should avoid trying to log back on, since the restriction durations seem to be different afaik?

I think tempbans=15min 1h 2h? 6h? 24h 48h? I have now always 1h tempbans and when i played with my old computer i had always 15min tempbans hmm... weird

I rarely get realmed, but when I do its been less then 5 minutes before I'm allowed back in. All in all bnet hasn't given me too many problems. One small bnet rant though.

Finally found a champion sword (have been diligently searching for it for a while,) used a socket quest on it. Went to transfer it to the character I needed it on, checked the game twice like I normally do (to make sure its permed after I've sat in it 5 Minutes+) Dropped the sword and logged the third time, when I came back with my the character I needed it on the game didn't exist. First game to ever drop on me :\

Tired of Single Player too. Had a level 86 Fishymancer Playing through hardcore. Was starting a gear run at the pindle garden and my computer decided to go buggy (screen flashes black and white and negative colored) with diablo to give me a HP update message for a printer that isn't connected. Didn't have the best gear on him for tanking pindles zombie chargers and I lost him :rant:

This is the scenario I love to death:

After a brutally long day of work, 9 hours, I limp home and plop into the computer chair to play some relaxing Diablo 2.

I launch the game, choose a character, and create a game name. And viola! On the very first dang creation attempt, it "fails to join"....



I mean, come on now. I realize the times I finally make it home and have time to play, coincide with prime time on the servers. And I realize it's times like these, when all the botters are out in force making tons of games, and it burdens the servers. But how am I suppose to feel good about being a legit player yet paying the penalty of suffering constant fail to joins and temp bans, sometimes on the very FIRST game launched from my home for that entire day??

I wish Blizzard would re-think their solutions to problems, since it always seems like it penalizes the playerbase more than it does hackers or botters

I almost never get temp bans anymore. Leave b.net once every 2-3 games and rejoin. It's a trick that has worked for me pretty much perfectly.

Ow how angry i get when that ****ing failed to join happens. I always have to wait a few seconds before joining a game and if not i get the lovely not loading screen.

On the other hand, eventhough i do not have a total good overview of the games available, can anyone name a company that still supports a game of more than 10 years old? And after 6? years still bring a patch that is game breaking (the 1.10 or 1.11) In addition the UT and UD and recently the respecc possibility and the increased HR drop chance? :thumbup:

But to close it down...i still do not understand why blizz cannot do something about bots. Eventhough everyone profits from bots (prices slashed every month) on the other people getting enigma's by leaving home for work and just let a bot do the hard work isnt really fair but fxk what is fair these days :wink:

A small tip, when u see that u won't be joining a game - Press Alt+f4 and u should be back on the bnet game list. :thumbsup:
It should usually work, i discovered this out of frustration.:nod:
