Teleportation: still have not been invented

Among all the classic sci-fi movie technology (hand held radio, space travel, computers, time travel etc...) only teleportation haven't been invented.

Will that even be possible without God's intervention? The easier way is a telepod like the one in the movie The Fly or a gate travel like Stargate. The more complicated version is the type in Star Trek. Just zap someone within range.

Either version is impossible when you consider how we'll move the mass of air at the destination.

If you could turn someone into energy and then move them then you could just as easily get the energy from a different source and copy them.

I would like to contribute to discussion, but some urgent matters need to be solved first. Oh well...

Time travel would be extremely lethal unless it had teleportation built in. And a huge supercomputer to calculate exactly what point in the universe the earth would be at any exact moment. Imagine if it were off by 100 feet, and you were either buried 100 feet below the surface, or placed 100 feet above the surface.

Wait wait wait. Out of all the things that make time travel unplausible, unfeasable in every possible way. The thing that strikes you as the problem is "dude... we might like.... might like... totally end up like really high up in the air and the time machine could like.... fall to the ground and break and stuff"

Where you raised in an amish village?

I'm in your ion trap, entangling and transporting your ytterbium ions.

I'm just pointing out the aspect that people seem to forget when they want time travel.

ty for that, lolz

how about: if you get to some point in the past and it's somewhere safe on the earth, how are you going to fart without changing the way the world weather system develops over the next 100 years - and- thereby eliminate the likeliness that your time frame will be consistent (if you leave all that parallel time threads theory out of here)?

Its not about time travel is it?
Still i like to point out that time doesnt exist :D
I believe time can be interpreted like "while a process lasts". And there isnt an actual thing like time which you could bend or rewind and ****.

According teleportation:
Startrekkish kind of it totally makes no sense. As Johny said if you transport that person-energy you could just make a copy. Means the person is killed and a copy lives on.

And practically any sort of telepotation IF invented will totally wreck heavoc upon our world.
Imagine teleporting a-bombs whereever you want. All kind of illegal stuff will so get out of controll.

There's a sci-fi movie about hand-held radios? *Snores*

if you think about time as the fourth dimension (like many scientists do), then it becomes clear why time isn't an actual 3-dimensional thing which you could bend or rewind and ****, but a 4-dimensional one (we're in over our heads, if we attempt to do that, though)

"while a process lasts" is a phrase that can only be said with the assumption that time exists

Re: Teleportation: still have not been invented

What i mean is time doesnt exist.
Time is only aterm describing that things actually happen. We also observe that some happen faster then others so people came up with the concept of time.
But actually time isnt there! The universe just exists and stuff flyies around and interacts.
Sure you can measure "time" but its an invented thing just to help understand the universe.

Btw this whole thing is just a thery of mine. I could be very wrong.

Re: Teleportation: still have not been invented

do you know how many invented terms we humans use and accept like they was tuna sandwiches?

all of them! you won't find a single term which you can't make a theory of "this doesn't exist. period." on. we have (almost) all just conventionally chosen to rather not go into that and leave them at "if we want them to be true, then they are".
argueing on either side is... well, go ahead! i won't stop ya, lolz

time is just that. you can say it doesn't exist for you. fine. there's really not much more sense to it than "fine".

convention is telling us that time exists and we bind it into our daily use (all the tenses in language, all the memories, all the whatnot's)
we just say that words like "faster" or words like "happen" wouldn't be able to exist without the assumption that there is such a thing as time.

fine?

Your argument is pretty bad, no offense. I have a feeling mine wont be any better, because I really am not sure of what I am trying to say. Here goes:

Time is a THEORY; there is no way of proving it exists or doesn't exist. Kind of like souls (please don't turn this into a religious debate). Also, it is man made. The first humans didn't come to Earth and automatically they had a concept of time, someone finally showed the concept to some people and they liked the idea of it. Something like that. Here is another way to look at it; time is like inches, centimeters, Fahrenheit, or Celsius, or in other words, measurements. They are ideas someone had and thought up and showed people. I am not sure how the concept of time started, but I imagine it was similar to all the measurements listed above.

Also, language is man made, so without someone thinking of time we would have a different type of language with no tenses. Also, memories have nothing to do with time, because memories are not man made like time and languages. We had memories before someone brought the concept of time to us. I can't really say what I'm trying to express here so I hope at least some of that makes sense. Ughh.
