I don't know where to put this thread... already put it in the hardcore forum but no one has responded. The problem is this: I play diablo, get on b.net, join a game. Everything's going great. About 2 minutes into the game, it freezes. No movement, no alt-f4, no ctrl-break, no alt-ctrl-delete. This is only at my dad's, running winxp he, with 512 ram, 1.7 processor, the works. No reason LoD shouldn't run on this machine, as I've updated the video drivers and I'm quite sure there aren't many malignant programs on this machine. I'd like assistance quickly, because I'm getting quite bored here. Sorry if this thread shouldn't be here.

Get rid of all spyware/adware, then try running the game in windowed mode with the -w command line. If it runs fine in windowed mode, you can try running it in fullscreen mode with either of -opengl or -d3d as command lines.

If nothing works, post the d2 log (found in /diablo II root directory) corresponding to your day and time. It looks something like D2040307.txt (in yy/mm/dd format). In that file find the time of the crash and post any exceptions that happened at that time.

The reason azurewrath and rainbow facet are being listed is for a very simple reason. There are 2 azurewraths (normal and elite versions) and there are 8 rainbow facets (fire/cold/lit/psn on death and fire/cold/lit/psn on level) that all look the same to the game. The game code has not been told to ignore logging these errors, so they still show up in the logs. Nothing to worry about though, your game won't crash if you have two rainbow facets on a character or something like that.

That's not the problem, try running windowed mode, see if that has any effect.

Still crashed in windowed mode. It seemed it ran for a longer time, but I switched to my mule to trade for Um and got the same problem.

Last thought here. Im not to up and current with winxp, but end all user-run tasks, that would be any date managers, gator, anything like that. Then try.

Nothing's working. Thank you very much though, you've been a lot more helpful than I have. I guess it's just some stupid virus or something, and I don't want to wait for a full virus scan. If anyone comes across this thread, please still give suggestions... I would love to be able to play at my dad's house.
