    Tankcromancer

say i wanted to build the best possible tank character and have a sorc or hammerdin friend or two do most of the killing... would a necro be the character to do it with? im thinking maxed golem + masteries and cureses.. bone armor.. ect could make a tought-to-kill tankcromancer ... im fairly new to necro's, but thought this might be a fun build..to just stand there and not get killed in hell

so what skill allocation would give the best tank? post godly gear options and affordable gear options if you're feeling ambitions

Well, a necro wouldn't be the best, but certainly not the worst. Marrowwalks would help, but you certainly don't need to exploit that. use the clay golem, as they have the best life. Since you're looking for people to do ranged combat to the monsters like sorcs, Dim Vision would be good. Then you don't need to tank. The monsters just stand there.

well, you could make a summoner necro (see sticky for guide), they are great 'tankers'.

Clay can get a sickening amount of life. At higher levels.

The Skellies will not have life comparable to Clay, bet there are a lot of them and they can dish out a lot of damage.

Revives also make great tanks. As long as you are able to keep them with you.

The Necro can have a Bone Armor of around 800 to about 1000 depending on the use of Marrowwalk.

But if you use the correct curses there will hardly be any damage that will need to be tanked.

It is all up to you.

yeah, use summoning as tank, they walks and runs skelly will really tank at front and mage will spread around and behind you to protect your sides.

(no so an )alternative would be boner with walls, but walls do not move and block your way. unless you have teleport.

wall also attract monsters from screens away to attack. skelly are more subtle.

for direct damage dealing, get poison skill or get a good bow. I like to go poison dagger melee.

I'm pretty sure a maxed out bone armour with synergies can go more than 1k

That 1k comes from 20 in BA + 20 BW and 33 from Marrow. On the calculator I am using it displays a little over 1K.

    Level 20 BA = 210.
    + 20 x 15 = 300
    + 33 x 15 = 495
    That adds up to 1005.

mm is correct for base lvl 20 armor + marrow synergy.

but say you have some +skill items, see math below:
    +5 = 1055
    +7 = 1075
    +10 = 1105
    +15 = 1155

That's pretty damn nice for a measly 40 skill points.

I'd imagine a 'tank' necro wearing / using the following:

    MAX WARRIOR
    MAX MASTERY
MAX CLAY GOLEM (1 FOR STARTERS, LAST SKILL TO BE MAXED, WILL ACHIEVE SLVL13 @ CLVL 90)
1 GOL MASTERY / SUMMON RES
    MAX BONE ARMOR
    MAX BONE WALL
    1 EA AI CURSE
    1 EA AMP / TERROR / WEAKEN / DECREP

    ITEMS:
    SHAKO
    HOTO
    HOMO
    SKIN OF VIPER
MARA'S (OR RARE +2 NEC SKILLS)
    ARACHNID
    MARROWALKS (etheral preferred)
    +1 RINGS (SOJ / BK)
    FROSTY GLOVES

That gives a +skill bonus of: 13 all skills
    CLAY GOLE LIFE:10,188
    WARRIOR LIFE: 936 (H)
    SUMMON RES: +62 (any difficulty)
BONE ARMOR: 1135 dmg soaked up
    BONE WALL: 6163 (h) for 24 seconds

highest str req is for etheral marrow's, which I can't figure out exact number, but it's gonna be pretty low. 75% block so dex is gonna be like 180+ and the rest in vit. Since you wont' be spamming jack-o-la, you can get away with 0 energy.

for leveling purposes, start with warriors and mastery, which will take you clear into hell easily on their own.

Max Bone Armor, Wall, Prison. Get all curses except IM/LT/LR, then 10/10 CG and GM and max those two. You could stand there forever but never kill

Or you could abuse Marrowwalks, and max Bone Spear, and have an ok killer

Best possible tank characters would be.....Druid Bear, Barb, and JavaZon. If your looking for a Necro (though not a true tank) then the Summoner would be the best bet.
