I curently have a blizz sorc (max everything except icebolt).(NO ES also).LVL 83.

My items are:

Shako PT(perfect topaz)
tal armor PT
tal amu
spirit 29
occy (no soc)
tal belt
wt 36
chance 40
nagel 26/29
anni 11/10/6
torch 11/11
No other charms worth mentioning.

i break the 65fcr/about 4kdmg on blizz/1k dmg on glacial spike
positive res with max light.

I can beat anything you would want to beat with a blizzard sorc(non immunes)

Merc gear:
Shaft
Gaze max LL/18 DR%
Ogre Axe with hel and 23ed/13fire res jewel.

He has 53fire res/40 else. 1.7k max dmg and isn't that good.


Why this long write-up?

What do you suggest next for me on this char?
In mu opinion as soon as i get my merc a higher level(and myself for that matter) and Eth reapers troll i am done.

well... it's pretty obvious that you are going for the Mf here... so..... I think ur character is pretty effective for that purpose already.... may be a gheed?

I don't like full talset because you loose +skills or in other words dmg.

another fcr breakpoint isn't needed for 2 reasons:

it would mean an somewhat big cut in mf.
at the 65fcr breakpoint i have a hard time stearing my tele because it isn't a direct road,you need to take lefts and rights.As such that xtra fcr won't increase my teleing speed by that much.

As survability goest i haven't died (when i am not fooling around) in about 100runs. This is generally due to my 1.2k and my 3.3k armor which does help.

For maximum effectiveness, nightwing, Ormus and deaths fathom are musts if you can afford them.

I don't like full talset because you loose +skills or in other words dmg.

You lose some skills but gain 15% more cold damage from the set bonus,.. someone did calculations which one was better..can't remember now. But for dual tree full tals was better than, shako+hoto etc. iirc. The amounth of MF wasn't much different either.

i would choose two 10fcr rings with some nice mods (mana, life, resists) over nagels to reach 105fcr breakpoint with 35 spirit. the added speed is nice.

For your merc you might consider switching his armour to a duriel's shell for the resists (50cold, 20fire/light/poison), +15str and cannot be frozen mods. Then try and obtain a 5 socket elite polearm (ethereal preferrably ) to put the runeword 'obedience' (hel+ko+thul+eth+fal) in. The stats are pretty awesome considering the runes used:

30% Chance To Cast Level 21 Enchant When You Kill An Enemy
40% Faster Hit Recovery
+370% Enhanced Damage
-25% Target Defense
Adds 3-14 Cold Damage 3 Second Duration (Normal)
-25% To Enemy Fire Resistance
40% Chance of Crushing Blow
+200-300 Defense (varies)
+10 To Strength
+10 To Dexterity
All Resistances +20-30 (varies)
Requirements -20%

Seriously, for fire/light sorc -enemy res helps MUCH more than +skills and for ice sorcs +% cold skill damage helps MUCH more than +skills. It's percentual.

As for the weapon, i will probably just have to socket an um in eth duriel shell so he can get 75res and an insight....

So you are saying that tal orb+tal mask>shako+occy

My prob here is that you would loose 100mf from shako+occy. You do gain life/res but i don't need them.


As for replacing the rings with 10fcr.....hard to say...is ONE breakpoint that big of a difference?

I switched from shako+occy to full tal's and am loving it. I found that I kill much faster (meteoorber) probably due to the -15 enemy fire and +15% cold and...****ing glow . Also, the 105 breakpoint is visibly faster than the 68 (or whatever the other one is), both in casting fireball and in teleporting. I use full tal's + 35 spirit to reach it so don't sacrifice much in rings but I recommend trying it and seeing if you like it.

I got a full tal set and it boosted my dmg by about 400 (blizz). Now i do a nice 5k on it. So all of you were right.

On the other hand tal set only gives 50fcr(right) so i need 35spirit and 10fcr rings for the breakpoint.

Doesn't tals set + 35 monarch + magefists give you the 105 bp? If I'm right about that off the top of my head, go for a 35 monarch and magefists, then just grab 2 nagels.

If you can get the 35 monarch, you only lose a bit of MF for a ton of resists and speed.

Seeing that i am a blizz sorc i prefer to get the trang oul gloves. This way i only need some more fire res.

After removing the gloves am i still left with 341mf considering my wts are only 36/gheed 26/nagel 29/25 and i don't have any mf charms. You can attain 400mf easy and even 500 if you want to.

Well insight is what I always pick for my own merc but I was coming at it from the angle that he won't need as much mana regen being a blizzard sorc. Of course I forgot that people like to spam glacial spike/ice blast as well. :scratchchin:

So ican't use an eth cv for my insight because my merc doesn't have 200 str and won't have without a lot of sockets..
