Synergies question.

This will probably never be red by anyone but o well. i got a question about synergies. i not sur eim in the right catagory of forum though. ne ways. When you are going for a crap cookie build right. lets take the assasin trap lady for example. you want to make a lightning asasin right? Would you max out the synergies or the skill ur going to be using first? Thx. O. and how do i get an avatar? sry i never us forums.

Hi, welcome to the forums

Firstly, you can add an avatar by clicking on the "Quick Links" at the top of the forum and selecting "Edit Avatar".

For your synenergy question, we'll use your trap assassin example. If you wanted to make a Trapper, you'll most likely go lightning sentry. This gets 12% extra damage from Shock Web, Charged Bolt Sentry and Death Sentry. You will want to max out Lightning Sentry first, though, as early one, it'll gain more damage that way, rather than by putting points into it's synenergies.
Once that's finished, you can put points into Death Sentry or Charged Bolt Sentry(as both are probably the more useful of it's synenergies, depending on who you talk to).

As a general rule, you would most often max out the skill your planning on using first, instead of it's synenergies. A possible exception to this would be a sorc with her masteries (fire mastery, cold mastery, etc), whereby in some situations you would probably get more damage putting a point into a mastery, than the skill itself.

Well, I usually look at the numbers and invest in whatever I think will give me more immediate damage.

say my main skill does 11-20 damage at lvl1.
21-30 dmg at lvl2
31-40 dmg at lvl3 and so on.

And my synergy gives me +10% Damage.

Well, to get that difference in 10 damage from 10%, I'd have to wait until my skill did 101-110 Damage. Then I would put 1 skill point in the synergy.

All this to say, you're usually better off investing more in the base skill, and just tossing a few points in the synergy while you're maxing the main one first. After the main one is maxed, fill up the synergies.

(If a synergy is a lower level skill that you'd use anyway... don't hesitate to max the synergy first and just make use of it)
