    Actually, it isn't.

Whirlwild should always use dual griefs (Both in phase blades) or grief + beast (Both in berserker axes)

Immortal King barbarians want to max Mace mastery (nobrainer)

crawlingdeadman provided you with link to the guides on the other thread, so check those out.

If you are just starting out, just slap 1 point on all of the three skills and use what you can find. After you find some very good weapon(s), use the skill reset gained from the den of evil quest (you get one per difficulty level) and max the weapon mastery you are going to use.

wow, so that skill reset must be a new thing, i havent played in a long time. So one thing thats a given is, whatever weapon you choose to use, you HAVE to max the mastery?

Usually axe mastery is best because berserker axe barbs are usually the way to go.

Match the mastery to the weapons you have. Swords look the best, but have high dex requirements. Axes look tiny but allow for the best runewords, usually you have to pay to repair at least one. Maces usually have no dex requirements but come with high strength requirements. Polearms do huge damage, look cool but don't allow you to use a shield.

Im leaning more towards an Axe, since years back when i first fired up d2 lod, barbarian just seemed like somebody who should be carrying an Axe. Swords are fun too, ive built quite a few of those. Anything that doesnt allow a shield just makes me nervous.
