Surviving in hell

Is it even possible for a pure-poisonmancer to survive in hell? Even with LR, I am finding it hard to break the Poison-immunes. I have no Enigma, and am currently using Stealth. :yeah:

Any advice?

Well your golem should help you tank. Also , you could add a few points into revived (really depends on your +skills) to get a few meatshields. That way you won't get swarmed so easy. And to kill those pesky poison immunes that you can't break immunity with , use your merc + your meatshields to kill them. Amp goes along way. :D Same goes for decrep for that matter.

1 last thing , venomancers are ok without any equipment , but if you want to make him shine alittle , I suggest getting at least 3 Trang-oul's set parts. The shield , belt , gloves. This gives you 25% poison skill dmg , aswell as -25% enemy poison resist. Although the -25% resist doesn't break immunity , it helps your killing speed alot. If you'll be able to get death's web aswell , you're set. This wand is the ultimate poison nova wand. :D

:thanks: Thanks, frozen. I play on USeast L, so no chance of that. Nice of you to help though.

And yeah, Lunatic, you are right about decrip. Why didn't I think of that??? Hotkeying it immediately. Used a white wand till i just got my hands on a death's web (42% though, but good enough). No Trangs set yet though. Can't even find the glove. Unbelievable but true. Thanks for the tips. Will see to that.

I find the gloves pretty easy to find (have 4 now  )
The hardest part was at first the shield, but after finally finding one (when I wsnt looking 4 it ;) ) I found 2 more later on :grrr:
So my advice: play without thinking of something and itll most likely turn up when you least expect it

:grrr: Lol... I must be really strange, to find a Death's Web but no TO stuff!

But you're right. Play without expectations. Afterall, the Death's Web did come as a complete surprise... :yep:

Also remember that you don't have to deal with immunes if you can't break the immunity (or just don't want to). Cast Terror, followed by Dim Vision. They'll usually run away and not come back!

Perhaps.. in the Poison and Bone tree you also have Corpse Explosion, and if you spend the couple of points needed you can have a physical/fire based attack with huge damage (with +P'nB skill tab adders you can get a respectable CE with just one hard point in it). Then all you need is for your merc to get one kill and then CE away!

Yep. CE works wonders. Just gotta get the first corpse. And killing bosses is really a problem.

You didn't say which merc you are using. My venomancer used a Holy Freeze Act 2 merc, which helped a lot with the bosses. HF+Gumby+Decrep all on one boss target slows them to the point where they are no big deal. (HF is also useful to prevent getting swarmed by poison immunes.)

Well, since I've never played a poisonmancer I don't have much to contribute. But I am on USEast Ladder softcore and have Death's Web and full TO (I just switched my mancer from TO to MF gear) for trade on my list if you're looking for them.

As for boss killing, my full summoner uses an HF merc (as suggested above) and him + Gumby + Decrep does wonders. If I fight Baal, I normally don't lose a single minion (except Revives). In fact HF + Gumby slows so much by themselves sometimes I don't even bother with Decrep and I use Amp instead to increase the killing speed. Giving him a Kelpie Snare or something similar would slow him even further.

And one other piece of advice, if your main problem is boss killing, try putting some Crushing Blow on your merc. I have just switched and given mine Guillam's and Hone Sundan. Once I get a -15 req / +24% ED jewel I'm trading for I'm going to upgrade the Hone Sundan and put 2 Shael in the other 2 slots. Not sure what to socket the armour or helm with yet, probably Shael or ED jewels since he doesn't really need to leech much. Oh, and he's wearing an upgraded Shaftstop for armour but I may switch that for an upgraded Duriels or a Gladiator's Bane or something with +skills, not sure yet. I haven't tried the new gear yet, but the CB should make boss killing much quicker. And since the army does most of the work for me, he doesn't have to be a massive tank, for you upgraded Shaftstop would probably be the best for the DR% and high defense.

I use nm A2 HF merc. But he doesn't really have a good weapon, and he needs intense levelling. But your suggestions are all really good. Playing poisonmancer really takes skill & brains, unlike my hammerdin who beats the crap out of everything using simply hammers. :D

Thanks for all of your help, guys.
