More like just randomly shouting for 3 episodes then suddenly powers up.

On a related note: ITS OVER 9000!!!

    He doesn't "suddenly" power up.
You've never watched Dragonball, have you?

Most people who diss it have never actually watched it. They're simply aware of it. (Or at the very least, they've seen some of the American episodes and are basing their opinion using that.)

What's the difference between the American episodes and the Japanese episodes? I've seen quite a few of the American episodes, and I thought they were just dubbed versions of the Japanese show.

I guess you could say that the Japanese versions are much more "extreme" than the watered down American episodes they show.

"Oh look, he just blew up a helicopter! The pilot is safe though, cause I saw him get out just in time."
"Oh man, he blew up that entire city! Luckily it's Sunday and no one was in those office buildings because no one has to work on Sunday."

Hmm, apparently the American version was reduced by 14 episodes. And yet, it was still too boring.

And the script was completely rewritten. They didn't drop 14 episodes - they cut 14 episodes worth of stuff out of the series as they went along.

Dammit, now I suddenly want to watch the Japanese Dragonball Z, feel like I just got ripped off all these years.

Unless they cut out 14 episodes of pure action, chances are the Japanese show was still far too slow.

    Re: Superman and his strength

It wasn't all "action". It was never supposed to be nonstop action. It had a plot, it had characters... it wasn't aimed at little kids. I'm rewatching it right now (they're waiting for Goku to arrive at Namek at the moment) and there's so much that was removed because it upset someone's sensibilities. For example - the Turtle Hermit groping a nurse, Bulma forgetting to put pants on before leaving the space ship, the character Lunch (Launch?) who changes personalities when she sneezes... seriously, try the series.

(There's a scene in the original Dragon Ball where the Turtle Hermit wants to rub his face in Bulma's chest in return for doing a favor - that was edited into him asking her if she had any older women friends, because she's too young for him, who aren't dating anyone.)

Also, the English voice actors sucked big time.

    Re: Superman and his strength

It got a little slow at times, there were a few parts in the series were the powering up for multiple episodes at a time hyperbole stands nicely. Other things are going on, but my first time through I just wished Goku would get on with it. That said, it's worth taking a look if only so you know what you're missing out on. I can't imagine what they decided to do with Majin-buu's genocidal episodes in America.

Listen, if it's Superman vs. _____, the answer is Superman, okay? Stop bothering to ask. You name it, he's that overpowered. Superman vs. Amon-Ra? Superman. Superman vs. the Death Star? Superman. Superman vs. the all Power Rangers, even the Green one? Superman. Superman vs. the event horizon of a black hole? Superman. Superman vs. Squirrel Girl? Superman... probably.

Superman can't summon a massive Spirit Bomb.

    Re: Superman and his strength

Neither can Goku. he just summons a "Good Spirit Ball" which to be honest sounds like such a pansy attack that he never uses it.

Considering the source, it hasn't been answered at all.

They both fail in entertaining me, though.

If Superman and Goku destroy everything around themselves trying to destroy each other, is there a draw?

Which Superman? The total badass, or the wussy version the comic books had to create when they realized an unbeatable, invincible man didn't make for good drama?
