I am thinking of starting a HC character. The 1 question I have is, when you die, are you able to collect your gear from your corpse?

Another character has to collect it for you.
If you are running 2 characters in one game, or you are playing with a friend, you can allow them to loot your body in case of death. This must be done pre-emptively, no "oh **** I died, now I'll let you loot me".

It is recommended that you don't let random people have the right to loot your corpse as it might inspire attempts on your character's life, and you're unlikely to get your gear back anyways.

Hi there

You loose your whole stash and the gear in your back pack. Someone that u have nominated in your party can only retrieve the gear you are wearing, weapon etc.

Your Merc's gear is also caput. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

thats right, only the stuff u are wearing can be looted.. but only when u gave someone permission to do so (duh)

out of 2-3 years in hc, i have never had my items looted before... i have always managed to die when no one is around/can save me.

Yeah, same goes here... Going through an act that I have done fine, and I "forget" to click my potions fast enough... Why didn't I die yesterday when I was at that LAN party... :-(
