Summoner for magic finding

I'm building a summoner in Hard core and plan on using him for magic finding.

So far I'm 20 SMastery and 20 Skel Mages
I'm gonna get decrepify and work on maxing RSkel
I'll prolly go with the Iron golem but I'm still not sure between the iron, clay or fire for magic finding.

I'm using a prayer merc now but not sure if a thorns or might would be better for killing things fast.

Anyone magic finding with their necro and have any advice?

Might merc is a summoners best merc.

For your golem, Gumby is the best overall choice.

I also use mages, and find them more helpful than a problem, though others might say different.

In addition to what GrimJack says, I'd suggets the following: get yourself some points into CE, this should help your killing speed, esp in Hell. For curses, I'd recommend a minimum of Amp Damage, Decrepify and Dim Vision.

well are you going to max out deceprify? i just find maxing out amplify damage and deceprify useless, the effect stays the same - all you have to do is keep casting it over to get multiple enemies and get them when duration wears out.

Clay golem is best, as GrimJack says

I'm not sure that i really like offensive mercs. it's my opinion only, but they dont seem to cast their aura a lot - i like defensive better.

As for skills, clay golem is all you'll need. Also, i always liked revives ( :yep: ) but a lot of people think otherwise, its up to you. Mages help though i find mine tend to get killed but when they run into melee but thats there fault. Corpse explosion is never a bad thing. I also throw a point or two in bone armor just because a little extra defence never hurts. As for curses, my necro has one point in all of them and he does fine. The question of decrep or amp has been debated before so i'll just say i use amp most of the time and decrep if i'm facing some fast guys.

As for mercs, if your a summoner then might merc is your bud, your hommie, or your brother in arms (or your drinking buddy :buddies: ).

Eh? They aren't supposed to cast their aura --- they turn it on once, and it stays on for the rest of the game (or until they die, but that doesn't happen).

For me, my might merc (lvl 90) turns on his aura while I'm raising my army --- offhand I can't remember a game where he didn't, although it might happen occasionally.

As a Skelemancer, you are loosing out if you are using anything but a might merc. At level 90, my merc should have a lvl 18 might. He's using a +4 ariocs needle, upping his aura to lvl 22; this means +250% ed for my skeleton warriors.
